I feel all warm and fuzzy now. It sure is a breath of fresh air from all that "nasty" talk in South Bend. --Get real! Absolutely no talk about what they need to do to get ready for this upcoming season. I want my 5 minutes of my life back along with the three seasons magical seasons he gave us.

He may have an 8 handicap, but the fact that he refuses, to this day, to get any instruction on golf and how to improve, speaks volumes to me.
Hell, Tiger consults his coaches every day.
Talk about obtuse stubborness !

Thats funny because he was on the golf course while many recruits were in South Bend waiting to meet with him. Thats part of the reason why his last two recruiting efforts were sub par (no pun intended).

Weis' handicap is probably around 50 - which is good because he isn't being paid to golf.

When Baer was being a good "pleasurable cart partner" where do you think Minter was at? His office, the film room or in a coaches' meeting.

If I was a Husky fan I'd be so pissed. The team finished with 2 wins the defense gave up 50+ points twice and the coaches are golfing.

Stories like this make like CW even more.

Are you kidding me.

Are you kidding me.

Ty is a asshole. And for anyone to think it was a racist thing to get rid of that asshole need to go root on that jerk in Washington. And this is coming from a Soul Brother born in Harlem. On a Golf course unbelievable.

Shouldn't he be studying film? The unpreparedness continues, huh? That coaching staff sucks and it all starts at the top.

This guy just does not get that if he loses this job, he may be done as a head coach for good. Evidently he must love the ND trust fund that was established for his shitty coaching. In my opinion, that mother f*&cker owes me money back for the tickets I paid to see him f&^k up many games.

Amen. What an idiot. I guess being a mediocre golfer and head coach is better than being a top coach and a terrible golfer...especially when you are being paid MILLIONS of dollars to coach some of the bigger name football teams in the nation.

Honestly, I can't believe it, or I use to hope it was not true.

Now, I don't hate Ty or Baer or anyone on the staff...and the golf club may bleed purple or whatever...but you do NOT have Media Day on a Golf Course. You have media day ON CAMPUS, preferably after your team has just had a grueling practice so that you can comment on the progress made by your young team. However, I know realize that is why Ty never offers any clues to his "strategy" or preparedness before he game because he has no real strategy after the first quarter, apparently...and that is the kind of work ethic that gets a coach canned really quickly.

I don't hate the Huskies, but I do hate the way that ND's name has been dragged through the mud for doing what they were totally in rights to do. After all, it apparently matters more to the man to improve his golf handicap than the offensive and defensive handicaps his team suffered through last year. They will be lucky not to loss 10 games again this year.

Honestly to tell you the truth i dont even think hes a "nice guy". I think hes a arrogant pompous asshole. If i got fired in ty's position and racism was brought up...i would say no, it was probably the 4 30+ blowouts we sustained against our biggest rival, and how unprepared I was for games bc i was at a golf tourny that got over late. Coaches are human and from time to time they make bad calls, but when youre starting QB admits that on a continuos basis that he had to call plays that him, the rest of the offense, the defense and every other person at the game and watching the game knew wouldnt work speaks volumes. when sayin that race has someting to do with it just proves that he cant admit his faults and shows his arrogance. Now this...having media day at a golf course. thats fucking sad and pathetic....his days in washington are numbered.

They just missed you and were looking to draw you out to post, Mrs. Willingham.

BTW did any of you read the article.

Seems the Media was not a fan of Willingham, and if that is the case, this idea went a LONG way in getting the media behind them. That can only help the program, but keep hating the guy

This is not intended as a bash on Ty. As I really have no idea how the media in Washington feels about him, nor do I care. But if having media day at a golf course affects how they feel about a coach, there are some issues with that media.

It's all fair game until each and every one of his recruits has exhausted his eligibility.

Since these are his players and all.

Once the Lord of the Living Room's players have all graduated, we'll be at peace. For now, apologists and haters will continue to live amongst us all.

Don't read them, don't post them, freedom of speech, Remember Remember the 5th of November, whatever. It isn't going away. I've come to that conclusion.

It is prefectly okay to be indifferent towards him at this point. Post about him, rip him, rip posting about him, get your ya-yas out. I have come to one simple conclusion to all of it:

There are 7 juniors on this team with an extra year of eligibility that played under TW. Some may or may not be back in 2008.

Bragg, Brown, Talley, Crum, Vernaglia, Lambert and Ferrine. Once these guys are out, everyone on the roster was not at ND when TW was coach. Some of them were RECRUITED by him, but NEVER PLAYED for him or were coached by him(Sharpley, Hord, Grimes, etc). Should take two years to flush everyone out unless there are some medically shirted guys that pop up again. That means by 2009, 2010 at the very latest, the roster will be expunged of anyone that actually played for Tyrone Willingham.

I'd say if it isn't futile by then, it probably won't ever be.

In the end, whatever gets you through the night.

Don't worry, it will eventually. Look how no one is talking about Gerry Faust anymore.:eek:grin:

Faust at least 'got it' when it came to ND. Ty never really embraced what the school was all about...that is the difference between the two. Hence, Ty is another blemish in ND's storied history and will continue to be discussed. As others have posted, do what you have to do to get through the night!!!

And it is not about hating the guy. I wanted him to succeed a LOT but the fact is that he held a COLLEGE FOOTBALL media day at a GOLF COURSE FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW. Is he being paid to be the Golf coach or the CFB coach? If he were the golf coach, then having a media day, or press conference at a golf club would make sense. But he is NOT the golf coach, he is their FOOTBALL coach and he apparently did the same things during tenure at ND, putting his golf game times on par with his job. Golf is a hobby for him, and therefore it should NEVER EVER supersede his job's importance. Jobs are what pay the bills, but if he wants to be a club golf pro when his next contract is terminated, then he is on the right track cuz these kind of things are what led to him being dismissed from ND and they will be also be part of the reason his loses his job at WAS within the next two years, if not earlier.
