I've been searching for it, but have been unsuccessful. Irisheyes made mention of it in the Q&A section.

Does anyone know what he said?

Others have taken on the young prodigy himself. When he arrives in South Bend, Clausen will have a few bridges to mend, including with incoming ND freshman defensive tackle Paddy Mullen, who isn't impressed at this point.

"He's cocky," Mullen said. "He's a typical quarterback. We'll see what happens when he's at Notre Dame and getting knocked around a little bit. We'll see when he has a defensive tackle tackling the crap out of him.

"I committed to Notre Dame. I told as many people as I could, people who called. But I don't have a PR firm putting my name out there. ... This guy better be unbelievable."

I think Jimmy is gonna have a wake up call because I believe D.Jones is gonna be the man to beat. I also believe Mullens comments can be used as good motivation for Jimmy..Im sure Coach Weis will make him find some humbleness like good ole Brady shows day in and day out...bring on the Jackets!!

Hats off to Mullen!!!! I agree with him. I know that I am the minority, but the announcement at the HOF and the whole limo thing @ the B&W game was a little overboard. ND is not USC or MIAMI - if you want to bling it up then maybe ND is not a good fit for both parties.

God people shut up already. I just watched marvin doing his thing for the 10th time on cstv no ones complaining. JC appears to be an incredible young man. If you people were in the same position you would do the same thing so stifle edith.....Paddy tell JC what you think to his face not to reporters....shut uuuuuuuuuup!

mmmmmmmmmmmm...... very interesting... my thread that I started(two days ago) in the recruiting section of this site ended up in a very heated discussion. I concluded that the end that the "jimmy impact" on recruiting was minor. I may be changing my mind, of course, I'll change it back once Benn commits... :) Does this change anybody else's mind?

How is what he did a Miami or USC thing? he is not breaking the law.

He had alot of people with him..what is he supposed to arrive in? a van?

many recruits were at the B&G game...he wanted to effect those other recruits by his decision.

I think having it at the HOF was a great idea. where else would he announce?

He is the #1 prospect for 2007, He deserves a little hoopla

I don't think that media is inherently evil or anything, but it seems some people want to keep the positives of media while keeping a long distance from things that may be perceived as "bling". Out of all college football teams, ND is the most connected with the media, for good or bad. Personally, I like the fact that ND has their own tv contract, and that most people throughout the country have access to almost all ND football games. I'm assuming ND is one of the biggest sellers in football merchandise, too. ND is a story, and it sells just like the "Yanks and Sox". Does that make the ND program unbecoming?

Is what Clausen did inherently negative? It's personally not my cup of tea, but if I were in his position as the #1 prospect, would I do it if I thought it would help the recruiting process? Based on stuff I've read on Clausen, he seems like a good kid. But I do know that if we categorically say what he did is negative, aren't we saying that part of ND football is negative too?

Jimmy and Paddy will become the closest of friends.
Fire in the heart and steel in the mind.
All the stuff that makes ultra-competitive athletes great.
And that's all I have to say about that.

Seems some people are ready to set JC up to fail before he even takes a snap at ND and blame him if they don't do well. This kid deserves all the hype, he's the #1 high school prospect in the country, and imagine the preassure he's going to be under next fall. Hopefully the press and the ND fans doesn't get to him too much (aka Ron Pawlus after the Northwestern game, "how many heismans can a guy win" Ron Pawlus will win 2 heismans", etc). I don't see how JC sending other recruits asking them to come to ND and help him win a national title is a negative affect. Like they use to say "don't playa hate, congratulate"
