PSU fans are getting annoying

PSU fan sent me this from fightonstate.com. It is early July and Penn State Fans are already starting to annoy me. I live about 40 min from Beaver Stadium and have to hear the BS every day on how PSU is going to upset ND. It is getting old. I do not want to look past GT, but I cannot wait until ND's Home opener.

I bet there's not nearly half as many "I hate PSU" sites as "I hate ND" sites because PSU isn't worth the time it takes to make a website about how much you don't like them. People are always going to hate ND in this fashion. Usually the most storied program in a certain sport is treated this way. Mostly because they get the most press, and often times maybe too much press.

It's kind of like my sentiment towards the Yankees. I despise those guys. And there are many websites and t-shirts dedicated toward anti-Yankee sentiments. At teh same time, I know that the A's are so unimportant that most people would never take the time to create anything anti-A's.

1990 we were #1 and if I remember correctly (note I was only 5 at the time so excuse me if I am wrong) but it was a home game on CBS.

I don't think it will be close. I say a 2 or 3 TD win for ND.

Joe Pa does not like ND. I remember when ND got the TV contract and he bellyached for weeks about it. Well Joe Pa, your program is not a national program that everyone would watch, unlike ND's. Sorry Joe, but you do get to be seen on NDTV and your beating is coming this year.

yeah in '90 notre dame was ranked #1 twice
the first time they got beat by bill walsh (i would say stanford,but...)
and then they worked their way back up and got beat by penn state right after beating tennessee.I was at the game in knoxville.

I didn't watch the penn state game in '91.I was still schocked over the second half loss to tennessee the week before.I remember watching the hawaii game and wasn't suprised at all when the rainbows scored 40 points.
Wasn't that game around midnight or something?

I was quite happy when holtz took over the defensive duties in the sugar bowl that year.

ND is pretty damn good with team's that only have 1 dimension.. next year PSU might not even have that.

Penn State has got to be one of the only 'major' football programs with absolutely zero tradition. They have a dinosaur that can't wipe his own ass.. wow, what a spectacle.

For starters the title of this thread implies that PSU fans weren't annoying before today. Nothing could be further from the truth. In my brief 33 years all of which have been spent in PA I have never met a PSU that wasn't annoying. They are the most annoying fans on the planet. Every loss is the fault of the ref, the time keeper, the guy holding the down/distance marker, the ref, the guy that mixed the Gatorade, the girl that wipes the wet balls off, the ref again, the guy that cut grass, the guy that didn't cut the grass and of course the ref blew the call.

And of course their is the "We" thing. I hate when fans refer to their teams as "We". I understand it slips on occasion - no problem. But PSU fan is all about the "We".

And stop whining about 1994. In 1993 ND beat the national champs by a touchdown and didn't win the NC. ND fans don't harp about every single day. Get over it.

I hate Penn State fan with an unrivaled intensity. I hope ND hangs 50 on 'em. And if I hear how Justin King is going to shut down Samardjiza I'm going to puke.

If you care enough about the team, you'll find yourself slipping it every now and then.

It sounds weird, I know.. I mean it's not like anyone that says 'we' actually plays on the team. But you do choose a school to represent you and sometimes you can't escape the "Us versus them" mentality, particularly when you're in a hostile state. It has even more of an impact when that school even represents your religion and your heritage

The '90 game we we're up 21-7 at halftime, I'll never forget it, they we're practically handing Rocket the Heisman at that point. He had killer first half. He got hurt late in the first half and never returned. We lost on a late field goal with like 5 seconds left. I was like 10 and I "used" to cry when they lost. My dad let me stay home from school the following monday because I was still so upset. Hence my handle and the '92 game if you remember. Plus I really hate that stupid Lion sound that shreks out at their home field every time they get I first down or tackle a RB for a 4 yard gain. We'll win by 3 or4 touchdowns. Does Paterno even call plays or do anything anymore?

I hope Akron puts the Fresh "never been hit in a college game" QB on his ass once or twice, because he will get a good dose of it on the 9/2. All I heard is how PSU handled Ohio St and ND got stomped. Not sure how PSU fans think that even matters this year. I do bring up Michigan and like a thread earlier, they blame the refs bad calls.

One More Thing:

I do not want to name the source, do not want to get this site into hot water, but I live in Altoona, PA and there is a Defensive player "big Time" who has been spending alot of time in the area (seeing a local girl) and he shakes alot of hands in church and has been quoted to admitting thier whole spring camp was geared toward a big game early in the season. Says the coaches never talk about Notre Dame, but all they practiced in the spring is Pass Defense, specifically short screens and HB dumps. I do not recall Akron as being a Passing Team. This Big Source also when asked if JK was going to play both ways, he stated that they need him to replace alan zemitis. He also said a very interesting thing regarding the QB position in saying that one of the WR will see some time at QB for option and QB running plays - Morelli is not very mobile but accurate.

I guarantee PSU will run alot of trick plays and mis-direction to include a reverse or two.

You nailed it right on the head about the PSU fans. I to am from PA and they are by far the most delusional fans in sports. According to them, every loss to Michigan over the past seven years can always be traced to a blown call by an official in the first quarter. I also have no idea why they hate ND so much. ND hasn't played them since 1993 and they seem to think this game is the equivalent to the Iron Bowl. PSU fans also think Morelli is the next coming of Dan Marino. ND cannot score enough points on Sept 9.

2: For years ND has freely recruited all over PA,NY,and NJ - PSU feels it is the right of PSU football to have every great player in this zone.

3: ND on NBC - I cannot tell you how many times PSU fans get pissed when ND is on all across the country and PSU is typically on in PA and NJ.

4: I have lived in PA for 7 years and I have never heard of fans from one team who celebrate when ND loses more than PSU fans - Honestly I do not get it. I could see if they were in the same conf. or had a rivalry, but they don't.

To all members who live in PA - I trust you will back me when I say SEPT. 9TH is the BIGGEST GAME for PSU on thier schedule. ND will be playing a team who has prepared thier whole spring and summer for 1 game.

Hands down Sept 9 is PSU's biggest game. The PSU fans in NEPA have been talking up this game since they found out it was on the schedule, which was at least two years ago. If they go 1-11 and that win is against ND, they will wet themselves with happiness. I agree with all of your points above.

You may recall that this all started years ago with JoePa being angry over ND getting the TV contract. He thought that ND should share the profits with all of college football and that they were greedy.
