Regis Philbin was on Larry King last night when some guy from Atlanta asked how he thought ND was going to do against Georgia Tech.

Regis replied..."Well Charlie Weis doesn't run up the score on anyone but they will beat GT by 3 touchdowns"

I agree with Regis.

I hope we don't give GT too much bulletin board material.

There is way too much talk about ND going to blow them out going into this game I hope we don't fall flat on our faces.

I agree! I know it is hard being ranked high to be a silent killing machine, but lets not give anyone extra motivation if it can be avoided.

The PSU papers have put Zibby's Quote after his fight "Our Goal is to go out and win the National Championship" Yea that is every college football programs goal, but the Daily Collegian spun it off to say ND does not respect PSU, which is totally false.

I must admit I am not too worried about GT, But for some reason PSU is bothering me.

I am very worried about Georgia Tech, last year we struggled very badly against middle of the road teams, and this year we have a target on our backs.....as excited as I am right now for the season I am also very worried.

I had the same kind of worried feeling before the opener with Pitt. We all know how that turned out.

While we don't want to give GT too much bullentin board material I don't think a quote by Regis on Larry King will make it

If Reggie Ball has improved his consistency at all, we'll have our hands full. They've got a stud WR, and Ball could be like Troy Smith was in Tempe.

Remeber, GT beat Maimi last year, when Reggie Ball put the team on his shoulders and simply would not let them lose. Mobile QB's have given our defense trouble, not only Troy Smith but also Drew Stanton.

Ironically, I think that teams that are able to keep the ball, and our offense off the field, will have the best chance against us. Which we used last year to near perfection against USC. I do not think that ball control will be a strength of GT, so I feel very good about the game, but not great (because of the mobile QB).

More good news, I think that both GT and PSU will be very good defensively and average offensively. This could/should allow our defense to grow up a bit before we beat Michigan and then rout Michigan State, Purdue, Stanford, UCLA, Navy, North Carolina, Air Force and Army. USC just might be a close game, we'll see.

PSU has to replace thier whole secondary. Justin King plays both ways so I expect to see him on the Shark all day.

I used to dislike Regis until I saw him on Conan; he's a lot more ordinary than I originally thought, sort of funny too.

That said, if I were in his position, I probably would have made a similar comment.

I really can't stand him. He pontificates on his show like he's the #1 fan of Notre Dame. Then he proceeds to name drop about sitting in the press box with Monk, or how he was so close to Lou/Bob/Ty/Charlie.

The real #1 fans are the ones on the wooden benches or standing up the entire game, going hoarse trying to disrupt Leinhart, shaking their keys on key plays, and freezing their arses off in November.

On a non-sports note, I saw him at Reunion a couple of years back. He's divorced and remarried, and I don't believe he has received an annulment, but he went up for Communion at the all classes Mass, of course with everyone else looking at him as he went. Call me old school, but you don't do that. I may be wrong about the state of his previous marriage, but I doubt it.

I dunno man, he's a big fan...he just gets to sit in the press box. Regis has given millions to the school...he puts his money where his mouth is.

I don't doubt his love for Notre Dame, or his ability to put his money where his mouth is, but I do wish that he wasn't quite so vocal about it, or as willing to jump from coaching bandwagon to coaching bandwagon.

I also just can't stand how obnoxious he is, even when not discussing the Irish.

He is definiely a blindly loyal fan...

I can live with it since there are so many bashers.
