As College Baseball goes, this is a step up on the career ladder. No doubt.

I don't really follow college baseball, but he seemed to have things going well at ND. ND was often ranked in the top 10 and had the number 1 recruiting class in the country not long ago.

LSU must be a fantastic program, I wish him luck, seemed like a pretty good guy.

I was on my way back from New Orleans last night and on my flight from Atlanta to South Bend was Coach Mainieri. He sat right in front of me and his wife sat next to me. They both seemed like really nice people and I wish them the best of luck. Coach was wearing a LSU polo shirt, but he would have looked even better if he was wearing a ND shirt still.

When we got to the airport in South Bend, his kids came to pick him up and he was showing them pictures of LSU's stadium and some other baseball pics. His kids seemed really excited about the whole thing.

Being out west or down south is the way to go in college baseball. Midwest and East programs have had success, but keep in mind Oregon State was the first "northern" school to win the CWS in 40 some years.

Notre Dame is a great program, but LSU offers certain things in baseball ND does not.
