Oaks Christian was supposed to come to Cincinnati to play Moeller this year, but they backed out. I was deflated to hear that.

Apparently Moeller didn't want to make the return trip to SoCal. I'm also not sure if Oaks Christian travels a lot. The only CA schools that play out of state a lot are DeLaSalle, Long Beach Poly, and Mater Dei.

The same thing has been puting off a DeLaSalle v. West Monroe (Lousiana) game. West Monroe apparently does not travel past certain distances, so of course, DLS refused without a return trip. And then West Monroe has stated that DLS is afraid of West Monroe. I don't know about that.

DLS travels more than any other team. In the last 5 years, it has played Pittsburg (PA, not CA) when it was ranked #12 about 4 years ago, and some team from Hawaii. WHen DLS' winning streak ended it was against Bellevue in Washington.

I know DeLaSalle will play Elder (Ohio) at Ohio this year.

I don't know how high schools are able to fund these trips.

There is a ridiculous clause in the OHSAA bylaws stating a distance limit that Ohio teams can travel to play out of state, so Moeller could not make the return trip.

It seems like there might be several states that do this. I know that DeLaSalle got a return trip from Bellevue, Washington at home.

DeLaSalle is playing Elder, Ohio at Ohio. I wonder if DLS is getting a return trip out of that one? If not, maybe Elder agreed to partially fund DLS's trip out to Ohio.

DeLaSalle's travels out of state have slowed down a bit since the streak ended. During the streak, many other high schools were funding DLS's trips to go play them.

Boy, talk about a thread that really went off topic. :)

DLS is playing as of large national challenge lineup put on by Kirk Herbstreit. Ohio vs. the USA or something like that. I would assume the sponsors of the event are paying the travel tab. Moeller's playing a team from South Carolina. Defending state champs St. Xavier will play sacrificial lamb to Urbie's farm team Lakeland Fl. Last year, X would have given them a game. But they've lost a lot.
