Per EdgyTim.com. Sounds like he is excited about it, too.

Yes, I'll take an order of Robert Hughes with a side of Martez Wilson. Oh, and a tall glass of James Wilson to wash it all down.

Thanks!

First post! Glad Hughes finally got his offer!

It seemed like this one took awhile. Hopefully he and his friend Martez Wilson will be wearing Blue and Gold.

Is it a ND offer they're talking about? The preview is kind of vague and I'd imagine the identity of the offer is pay info, correct?

how realistic of a shot do we have with Hughes?. Looks like he would fit in real nicely here. Didn't he grow up a Miami fan?

Yes it's an ND offer.

It's provisional based on his grades, but apparently he rocked last semester and is working his tail off, which I am very happy to see.

We have a pretty good shot.

As of right now, Miami hasn't given Hughes nor Tez Wilson any reason to believe an offer is expected and some don't expect them too. At least, that's what people are thinking on the 4HL.

Truely exciting news Svoboda. I'd like to join you at that banquet! Being from the old school, I would like to see Notre Dame re-establish its dominance of the Midwest in recruiting and then fill in with some of the recruits from the "Sun Belt" states, like CA, FL, TX and GA. They always seem to have that toughness and "edge" and be much better adjusted to the football climate (weather and otherwise) that is found at South Bend.

If he does in fact have an offer, and there has been speculation for a while now as to if he does or not, then this is very good. Ultimately, he's going to end up being the running back they take in this class (There might be a second). And it won't hurt that both he and Tez Wilson would now have offers.

I still think they get Wilson and Hughes; I'm holding out hope that Stroter gets into the mix somehow.

It's about time they offered Hughes, he is a talented back and would complete our recruiting at RB this year if he signs.

This is good news. I'm happy for the kid. He and Tez would make for a great combo announcement.

Miami is loaded at RB. They took a good haul of them last year. And it's a good year for RB's in Florida. I think they are chasing Armando Allen and that's about it.

I somehow get the feeling that Hughes and Wilson will be announcing together...they have pretty much said so in past interviews and have stated they would like to play together.

As to Stroter...who really knows? I have been puzzled as of late as to all of the new OLs being offered, in reference to Nuss and Nnawakwo (I hope I spelled it right). I wonder what is happening with Ziemba, as I have not seen anything in the last 6 months regarding his interest in ND. As to Stroter, he is huge, and has good grades and an ACT...

Jigga, I never knew King was a magnet school...I thought the only 2 were Whitney Young and Latin school in Chicago...along with Gordon Tech and Lane Tech. I like Stroter's size, but perhaps the staff sees something we don't. I am glad to see that Hughes is getting an offer, and seems that Chicago is returning to being a ND recruiting base, which I am happy to see.

Polish,

Gordon is Catholic. Lane and Young are magnets, King became one a few years ago from what I recall reading. Hence, Sonny Cox's retirement and their basketball program going into the tank.

I have to trust the staff on this one, but I like Stroter. He is not of the same caliber of any of the O linemen they have offered currently, though. He's a project.

Great news! We haven't had a recruit sign for a while. It's about time we had some positive recruiting news, especially at running back. Now for Hughes to commit!

That's great to hear he got an offer and looks like he wants to work to get the grades solid. He seems like a nice kid.

I'm not sure about him fitting the system, though. I mean, he seems like a battering ram, but don't we already have James Aldridge for that role? Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have him because I never want to turn down a big-time player, but I'd rather have Caleb King or Armando Allen if I could only have 1 back.

Aldridge is not a battering ram. He's only around 200 pounds. Good size for a RB, but not a big punishing runner.

What Hughes would do is open the door to land a complementary back ala Allen, Tate, Jones(if he plays RB) etc.

I'm with you on Allen. I finally watched his film a few nights ago and I am sold 100% on him. In my eyes, he's the best game breaker that may be available to ND at any position.

It would be great to punish teams with the likes of Hughes then, when they are broken, make them chase Allen around for awhile.

What are his top schools?

Michigan, for one. OSU is recruiting him, but I'm not sure how seriously.

He likes Miami, but they are loaded at RB and are not looking north for one this season.

Oh, no doubt on that one.

I dunno, Hughes kind of reminds me of Mo Clarett , but maybe not quite as talented. I played against Mo in High School...Man...That dude was not of this Earth.

If I may ask, where did you play your high school ball. Do we have another Ohioan on the board?

Haha. I almost went to Cincinnati for College (couldn't get into Xavier), but I heard a lot of bad things about the area around the University. Any truth to that?

It's not all that great, but it's not south central, either. It's an urban mostly commuter campus....it is what it is.
