Buzzmaster: We've got Martez! Let's get started!

Craig Haubert: Welcome everyone to another recruiting chat -- As always thanks for joining us. We have one of the nations top defensive end prospects in Martez Wilson stopping by to take some of your questions. Martez is out of Simeon High in Chicago and you can read more about him after the chat in this weeks "Get To Know".

Craig Haubert: Two quick announcements before we get started. Tomorrow on ESPNU RB Marc Tyler will be announcing his decision live at 4:05 EST

Craig Haubert: Also on July 10th we will be releasing the ESPN 150.

<HR width="80%" noShade SIZE=1>Pat (chicago): Matez, what defensive end would you compare yourself to and why?

Martez Wilson: I compare myself to Simeon Rice, because, No. 1 we're both tall, fast, athletic and have long arms. We're both from the state of Illinois. We both play hard. That's who i compare myself to.

<HR width="80%" noShade SIZE=1>Ryan, Port Charlotte, FL: Hey Martez, How about the U. I read in an article that it was your dream school. Is that true and what are the 'Canes chances in the recruiting process?

Martez Wilson: Yes, that is my dream school in growing up. Recently, they sent me a letter, because they want to see my highlight tape. Then I guess they'll decide on whether to make an offer. Yes, I sure would like to go there.

<HR width="80%" noShade SIZE=1>Russel (Lincoln, NE): Martez are you planing an offical visit to Notre Dame?

Martez Wilson: Yes I am. I haven't made an official date yet, but I plan on making one.

<HR width="80%" noShade SIZE=1>Jack: (Chicago, Illinois): Martez, how close are you and Derek Rose? And will his decision on where to attend college affect your?

Martez Wilson: Actually, we're pretty close. We kick it now and then. We talk. His decision won't effect my decision. He has to do what's best for him, and me, I have to do what's best for me.

<HR width="80%" noShade SIZE=1>Brian (PA): Martez who is recruiting you the hardest? Do you think you will play LB or DE and do you have any favorites (ND)?

Martez Wilson: Right now, Wisconsin, Illinois and Notre Dame are recruiting me the hardest. ND is talking to me about an OLB. Illinois is looking at me as an athlete, DE, LB, TE. Wisconsin as an OLB. It varies with the schools and what spots they need to fill.

<HR width="80%" noShade SIZE=1>Ed (Maryland): Hows it goin Martez. Any chance you will take a visit to Penn State. I know it's a little far but I promise you it will be well worth it.

Martez Wilson: I want to make a visit there. I'm thinking about making an official visit. It all depends on my top 5. I sure would like to go down there.

<HR width="80%" noShade SIZE=1>Dan (Middletown,NJ): Martez, if you could be any other position what would it be and why?

Martez Wilson: I would play safety, because I feel I have good enough footwork and speed and I can tackle. I feel I could be a good safety.

<HR width="80%" noShade SIZE=1>Tim, Miami: how much would like to weigh heading into college?

Martez Wilson: I would like to weigh a good 240-245.

<HR width="80%" noShade SIZE=1>Bill, South Bend: Are you looking at the defensive schemes schools run to help you decide?

Martez Wilson: I'm not looking at defensive schemes right now. But when I look at making a serious decision, I will look at it to make sure I feel comfortable in that program

<HR width="80%" noShade SIZE=1>Dan (NJ): What would draw you to select a team to play for?

Martez Wilson: First, the coaches that I can trust. Second, academics if they have the major I want to major in which is real estate or business. Third, the prestige of the program. Are they up and coming?

<HR width="80%" noShade SIZE=1>Will, AZ: What do you think is the toughest conference in college football?

Martez Wilson: I would have to say the Big 10.

<HR width="80%" noShade SIZE=1>Marc (Los Angeles, CA): Martez, What are you thoughts of going to school at USC? Big city, sunshine, great academics and alumni association and a school that could use a good pass-rusher like yourself. Can't forget that USC has recently sent guys like Mike Patterson, Shaun Cody and Kenechi Udeze in the league as well as a guy like Willie McGinest and Pete Carroll is the most charismatic coach in college. Think about it man. Fight on!

Martez Wilson: I like the USC Trojans a lot. I could see myself playing for them. They've been winning recently. I feel that I could help that program out. I see USC as a possiblity right now.

<HR width="80%" noShade SIZE=1>David (Wooster, OH): Martez, where does ND sit in your list/ranking of schools? Thanks GO IRISH!!

Martez Wilson: I put them in my top 5. I haven't made an official top 5. I have a top 10, but when I do make a top 5, they'll be there.

<HR width="80%" noShade SIZE=1>BMAC (PHILLY, PA): Martez I know you are pals with Robert Hughes. If Hughes picks up an offer this week from ND is there a chance that the both of you could be playing under the golden dome? GO IRISH

Martez Wilson: It's a great possibility, but we really have to look hard into that. Right now it's looking good, but I'm not guaranteeing anything right now.

<HR width="80%" noShade SIZE=1>Dan (NJ): Who was the NFL player that you liked the most and made you want to play football?

Martez Wilson: The football player that made me want to play football was Reggie White and Barry Sanders, because they dominated their positions. Up to this day, my favorite NFL stars are Jerry Rice and Terrell Owens.

<HR width="80%" noShade SIZE=1>John, Chicago: Have you ever watched film of the home town Bears and their dominating '86 defense?

Martez Wilson: No, I have never watched the film, but I sure would like to.

<HR width="80%" noShade SIZE=1>Sean (Boulder, CO): Martez, have any experiences with crazy boosters yet? Do you plan on visiting CU at all?

Martez Wilson: I don't have any experiences with any boosters. Colorado, I don't think I'll visit them, because they're not in my top 10, but if I have a chance to make an unofficial visit, I might go there.

<HR width="80%" noShade SIZE=1>Chris, Michigan: Who has been the toughest lineman you have faced so far in your career? Chicago has some good talent.

Martez Wilson: Actually, I'm not sure. I've been up against some good linemen. Ramon Johnson was probably the toughest. Not to brag or nothing, but I dominated them all. But Ramon was the toughest.

<HR width="80%" noShade SIZE=1>Chris (Philly): Martez - Is staying close to home a factor in your decision?

Martez Wilson: No it isn't. Location does not matter.

Nice to see that we're in the top five. Especially since he doesn't seem to have figured out which other schools are. Also nice to see that things "look good" for ND. Although, Miami makes me very very nervous.

Does anybody else think that "Marc" fro LA with his question about USC, is Marc Tyler? It seems as though the question from Marc on the chat is a little more in-depth than the usual chat questions. He could be doing a little recruiting for USC already. Just my thoughts.
