Throughout this whole recruiting process ND was his top choice. Until he realized that he had about 2.5 GPA. Unless he has a standout year in the classroom next year he's all usc.

I think he would be USC for a lot of other reasons than his GPA.

To my knowledge, he is not one of the conditional offers like Caleb King, Mark Barnes and a few others.

I have read on a couple of other boards that his grades don't meet requirements, but I wanted to avoid passing on what I thought might be rumors. However, I am hearing it more and more...so I suspect there is something to it.

I think it is rubbish myself. I think some of the Notre Dame faithful tend to put down players when they decide not to attend Notre Dame.

I agree with Svoboda. If his grades weren't good enough, why would they give him an offer?

exactly knute,
they wouldn't even waste time with it. He wants to be in cali from what he has been saying. If that is the case then that is where he should be. We want our players to want to be with us in SB as much as they want air. If not they will never reach their potential. I for one say good luck to him....now let's move on there are others waiting to become our next super stars.

Hey, I know that the 'grades' excuse is over-used and that I've used it myself from time to time... but I mean, a 2.5 GPA is one of the lower ones I've seen. It definitely struck me when I first visited his Rivals profile and from that moment, I had doubts as to whether he would choose the Notre Dame lifestyle.

You have to work hard at Notre Dame. It's not for everybody. If you're getting a 2.5 GPA in high school, maybe you should consider alternatives.

If your getting a 3.5 or lower and under 1300 SAT score in highschool ND is not for you; or at least thats what I told.

I agree with the GPA, but not the SAT. In my opinion, if you score even just above a 1000, you can still be ND material, you just need to work hard enough to earn it.. ie, get in the 3.7-4.0 range and do a lot of volunteer work.

That doesn't apply to football of course ;)

SAT is scored differently now. A perfect score is now 2400 and not 1600, so scoring a 1300 would not be difficult.

That's exactly why I am hesitant to talk about grades when it comes to recruits. Unless I hear it from the kid, its so hard to tell if its true.

Yeah, you hit the mail on the head. Football players do have special dispensation.

The average SAT for the team two years ago was 960. That's the AVERAGE!!!

That would be just a tad lower than the school average...hehehe (this was based on the 1600 perfect score SAT)

Stanford's BASE score is 1000. They are pretty impressive when it comes to SATs for athletics.

The GPA standards are lower than what you guys think, as are the SAT/ACT standards...Having looked at guys' recruiting files when I worked at ND, they standards may be higher than most, but they are still significantly lower than the standards of the main student body.
