“I feel like I could really fit into the system,” Stroter said. “The players are very disciplined and they don’t get into any trouble. That’s the main reason why my father doesn’t want me to go to Southern Cal or Miami (FL), and would rather have me go to Notre Dame.”

From Jason Sapp's article at BGI.

That is just flat out brutally honest in every way shape and form.

Miles, listen to your father. He's a good man and won't steer you wrong.

Basically, he'll go to ND's camp in June and if he does well that day he'll get his offer and verbal right there. He also wants to take his visits.

Clearly, this is a kid and his dad that "get it." Dexter Hazelton got it too, but his son chose the easy route.

What are the scouts saying about this kid? How big of a get is he if in fact he does commit to the Irish?

It would be a pretty good get if we landed Stroter. He is a BIG man that could play DT but probably would translate better to OT.

After our OL class last year I know its hard to get excited about this years OL recruits but they are still needed.

Stroter was selected by Lemming to be in his early top ten recruits nation wide. He was ranked #10. I have read in several places that he projects as a DT. He would be a monster get for ND.

really? I have been hearing the opposite? More of an OT prospect but yeah if he could play DT we certainly need him there.

The DT stuff is coming up as of late, but if they really intend on taking 5 OL and at least 3 DT I'm not sure they can afford to bring him in at DT. I'll go on the record and say it is a bad idea. I don't believe he has the speed and agility than that of guys like Brent, Barksdale or Wade.

Some around these parts say he was better as a junior than that of Demetrius Jones' Morgan Park teammate Ramone Johnson, which says a lot to me. Johnson was a four star linemen and the best in the state; he's Knoxville bound.

Stroter probably projected as a guard at first, but with his size and increased strength in time he could just as easily play tackle.

He's not in the Top 100, but he could easily project to a four star kid.

why hasn't ND offered him yet? is ND looking at him as a OT or OG?

He's getting his offer June 3rd at camp. As long as he does well and shows them he's capable of being coached.

Ianello and Latina have told him as much, according to him anyway.

Again, I'm not 100% on this but he projected as a guard initially but he's probably going to end up around 6-6 or 6-7 and could play tackle. Needs to get stronger, though.

ND wants 2 OT and 3 OG, so I'll say OG for now....

jigg, does ND have any shot at landing OG james wilson?

If it were up to his mama, he'd be Irish.

I say they do based on what is being said about him. He's highly sought after, so bet even money I guess.

Young and Wenger could factor in here, plus Latina is as good as it gets with these linemen. He develops good relationships with them. You saw how much better the front five was in 2005.

USC, Florida and Bama will factor in here. Wilson's dad lives in Los Angeles. However, he isn't really considering distance from home as a factor.

That quote made by Stroter sounds like the type of character CW is looking for:)

5 OL this class?

Tyrone really left the OL cupboard bare eh?

yeah, I think that's part of it, but you can also never have too many lineman on both sides of the ball, I think anyway. For one, they get hurt a lot, and two I've always believed the right way to build a team is from the lines out. Good lines seem to correlate to good skill players, IMO.

In light of recent events, it would appear that Mr. Stroter has proved to be prophetic.
