According to a post over at Bluegraysky, Gameday is going(maybe) to be at GT-ND opening day... I would think that Penn St, ND the next weekend would be better...

From Bluegraysky
"Send in the Clowns

Internet rumors (and they're never wrong) claim that Kirk Herbstriet announced on his radio show that ESPN Gameday is already scheduled to be down in Atlanta for the Notre Dame/Georgia Tech season opener. If true, this will be the second straight year that the Irish open the season on the road with the Gameday crew on location. And like the Pitt game, the game against the Yellow Jackets will likely be an evening prime time game. Unlike the Pitt game, I don't think there will be any 0-5 predictions for the 2006 Irish."

You don't think Mark May will predict ND 0-5? Mark May don't ever do the ESPN Gameday does he? I sure would love to see him come to ND one day. Heheheh, he would have to drive on the field in a pope mobile that's for sure.

These guys should get in trouble for being wrong. Its the only job where you can be way off an not get in trouble. They should get fined or something.

That are they have to pay retribution. Like Mark May having to wear a Brady Quinn jersey during a ESPN show. I think he would resign and tortured before he would do that.

He wouldn't be able to squeeze that 30 gallon head through the opening of a Brady Quinn jersey. Maybe he could wear an ND grill cover on his head or maybe one of those ND tire covers on the top of his HUGE dome. His head is like Sputnik!!!!

Hell no. They hide him in the studio at Bristol like sororities hide their ugly girls when they recruit each fall.

They were probably bribed into hiring his dumbass, but that doesn't mean they have to send him out in public.

I hope this is the year Holtz and Davie kick his ass LIVE on TV. And I've got HD now, so I can't wait.

They are sports analysts, not serious journalists. They are there for entertainment purposes and some to stir the pot. Half the country gets fired up when he predicts crap like that, the other half laughs. Either way, it gets people talking. They don't need retribution. Ultimately, it's an entertainment medium.

Of course. And he deserved everything he gets from Irish fans. My point was more geared toward suggesting that something should happen to these guys if they are wrong.

Agreed. Hell, if a weather man forecasts sunny and 70 dgrees for this weekend, and it ends up snowing with a high of 25 degrees, how long do you think he would have a job for? I'm with ya scoop.

I agree and understand. It's in ESPN's intrest to keep conflict to equal ratings. Mark May is the Jerry Springer of sports. Just Mark May doesn't have to act. His hatred for ND is rights from is stone heart. Did he wear a helmet when he played football?

the thing I hate most is that his hatred is ONLY for Notre Dame. I have never heard him verbally beat down any other team like he has ND.

to answer your question about the helmet, I'm guessing he didn't wear one. Not because his coaches or he didn't think he needed to. It's because they don't make a helmet large enough to fit that gargantuan melon. They'd need a helmet roughly the size of a Buick to fit over that head.

I'd agree w/ you if not for I really think those guys (Corso in particular) say things they don't really believe just to counterbalance what the other ones are saying, or to rile up the crowd.

It should be noted that I do not believe Mark May does this. I think that man truly hates Notre Dame and all it stands for to the bottom of his black heart.

I hate to say this. But I think that Mark May hates ND for the same reason that a lot of the black media hates ND.

So I do believe that his hatred for ND is genuine. Which is why I hope that Holtz will be on Gameday until Mark May is gone.

I think that alot of the hatred from the black media was due in large part to the firing of Willingham. May was bad mouthing ND long before this occurred.
Can anyone confirm whether May wanted to play at ND at one point of his recruitment, but was denied for some reason. I could have sworn that someone told me this, but I can't remember where I heard it.

i think holtz implied that he went to...pitt? because he couldn't get into ND...but i think that was a joke - not sure there's any substance to it.

Notre Dame got a bowl bid that Pitt was passed over for while May was there. I think it stems from that.

1981 Sugar Bowl vs. Georiga, I believe?

It might have been someone here on Envy that told this story.

And did ND play and beat Pitt regularly during May's playing days? That could play a part in it also. I'd hate a school that I never beat in my career. Fasano never beat SC, did he?

It is sad for a grown man, not to mention, a commentator on national television, to hold a grudge like this over something like that. Grow up Mark.

Yea, but I don't remember his animosity before to be quite as rabid as it is now.

And it certainly seemed non existent for a while.
