2007 Irish RB prospect Darren Evans out of Warren Central in Indianapolis lost his coach today.

His coach, Kevin Wright, is leaving to take over Tulsa Union HS in Oklahoma. It is reported that after all incentives and camps, he'll pull down over 100k a year. Wright has led Warren Central to back-to-back-to-back class 5A state titles and Evans was his prized back during that run.

Evans could suffer as a senior with a new coach coming in, possibly a new offense, etc. Could be a steal for Notre Dame if that happens and he slips off the radar of some of the bigger program. Kid is an absolute stud.

He finished 2006 with 220 carries for 2,071 yards and 37 touchdowns. He had a long run of 75 yard. He ran 17 times for 98 yards and two scores in a 55-20 drubbing in the 5A State Title Game.

Svododa you know as well as I do that Warren Central is always stacked with talent. I don't think Evans will suffer too much. Maybe with the new coach coming in they will rely on him even more. I think he will get just as much attention as before, and if they go all the way again this year its going to be because of him, which will help him out in recruiting as well. I hope ND at least takes a look at him.

Warren Central IS always loaded with talent.

However, my concern is the coaching. During my senior year in high school, we went through a coaching change. We went from winning 8 games to winning 3 games, and we didn't lose any major players from our team.

Hopefully they get someone that will keep the same offense or at least a good portion of it. It is an aweful big task to switch offenses, especially when your big time skilled players are older.

But you're probably right because Evans is the real deal. I'm excited to see him this year and I'll definitely check out some games and give some updates.

If ND offers this guy, do you think he'll verbal?

The Big Ten schools seem to be chasing him most, but only IU has offered.

Probably on the spot, but with our depth at running back now, that may not be a good fit for him to be honest.

I believe he has offers from Indiana and Louisville right now. He has been told that he'll receive offers from Michigan, Ohio State, West Virginia and Oklahoma State. Granted, those need to turn into offers, but that was from an interview with him.

What is probably turning off programs is his 40 speed, which has been in the 4.7 area in a couple combines he has ran. His former coach Wright always compared him to LenDale White, and at 6'1" 210lbs, that may not be far off.

If he doesn't make it at as a back, I think he'd also be an excellent linebacker prospect. In a game I went to last season, he took a pitch and turned the corner, lowered his shoulder and absolutely demolished an opposing linebacker. He looked like Earl Campbell.

I've seen him listed at either 4.6 or 4.7

He isn't that much of a downgrade from Tyler, is he?

He may be clocked at 4.6 or 4.7, but he's one of those guys that just has excellent game speed, and as Svoboda said he can lower the boom on people. I've seen him and Aldrige play, and I though Evans looked better.
But considering the talent of his line compared to Aldrige's it might be about even between the two. If ND offers I think he would committ before Charlie finished the sentence.
