What about K? I nominate REGGIE HO.

Domer95, you should know Jigga's feelings on kickers by now.

They're not real people.

If you insist, I'll take Ho as my kicker and Hentrich as my punter.

Not sure about the RB position. It's a close call position, but I think Julius Jones deserves it over Darius. I love watching Darius run, but I kinda think Julius has a greater body of work. Just my opinion.

I've substituted Pinkett as the starter, Denson moving to Walker's backup spot. Pinkett played on some really crappy teams and was still great.

I still believe when all is said and done, Walker is going to have several rushing records at ND.

Exactly what I was going to say. Lets not give JJ the shaft again as Willingham did.

DE - Willie Fry
OG - Ernie Hughes
QB - gotta go with Joe
RB- Terry Eurick

I think we have named about 1/2 of that team (2nd greatest in ND history behind only 1988 team!).

There are a lot of glaring absences on that list. Ryan Harris at tackle?? I don't know about that one as well as the Brady Quinn pick; I could go on and on and that is just the offensive side of the football.

Quarterback position for me is a no brainer --- and it ain't Brady Quinn.

Tony Rice won more big games than any ND QB - with his legs and arms....just look at how many top 10 team they defeated with Rice - the straw that stirred the drink.

28-3 as a starter.

Eurick -- wow. What about Eric Penick? great career and one of the biggest plays ever in ND history vs USC, or Vagas or Jerome Heavens.

I do think that the secondary was nailed perfectly.

Offensive Line has a ways to go. Ryan Harris???? Not close. Tim Grunhard

Defensive Line -- If we go back a ways - Walt Patulski. #1 overall pick in the NFL draft. Gotta go w Willie Fry over Tuck - and don't forget Steve Neihaus 2 time all american in 74 and 75 (consensus). Mike McCoy?

Kory Minor was good but he wasn't Demetrius Dubose, or Ned Bolcar, or Steve Heimkreiter or...

Reggie Brooks gets my nod for two reasons...
1.) He averaged over 8 yards a carry. Davieham Offenses struggled to get eight yards per quarter.
2.) His spinning, tackle-breaking run against Michigan during which he got knocked unconscious at the goal line and still scored a touchdown was the most cock-diesel play I have ever seen.

Good List. Toss up at QB between Quinn and Montana
Jones @ RB I would consider as well.
finally I would throw in Paul Hornung in somewhere! ya gotta!

Stams in Minor out. Harris out, Rosenthal in (for now). Wynn in Tuck out (punishment for leaving early)

When you talk about DE's, the all time best two at ND were Alan Page and Ross Browner, bar none. They need to be on the ALL ND team. Wish we had had that pair playing in 2005 season. Our DB's would have looked like world beaters with the pass rush those two would have provided. Page was the best I ever saw.

Have we forgotten about Marc Edwards at FB? Dude was a wall at ND.

Rocky Boymen has to get some props on the D side of the ball. That ol boy wasn't strung right and he had a nose for the ball.

If you are going to go back to the Golden Boy's time you should go back a little further and add George Conner, this guy was a flat out stud. He is in both the college and pro hall of fame. Should also consider adding Leon Hart as well.

As long as we're limiting it to people we've actually seen/can remember:

QB-Brady Quinn
RB-Julius Jones
FB-Jerome Bettis
WR-Arnaz Battle
WR-Jeff Samardzija
WR-Maurice Stovall
TE-Anthony Fasano
OT-Luke Petigout
OT-Ryan Harris
OG-Dan Santucci
OG-Aaron Taylor
C-Jeff Faine
DE-Justin Tuck
DE-Anthony Weaver
LB-Rocky Boiman
LB-Courtney Watson
LB-Brandon Hoyte
DT-Grant Irons
DT-Paul Grasmanis
CB-Shane Walton
CB-Vontez Duff
S-Tom Zibikowski
S-Glenn Earl
KR-Vontez Duff
PR-Vontez Duff

Everything before about the early 90's is a little hazy for me, I was still kinda young then. Some of these guys I only remember vaguely, but I couldn't think of anyone else to put in their place that I remember distinctly (i.e. Paul Grasmanis), and I definately don't really remember any of the more non-descript players (i.e. offensive linemen) from before I really started follwing ND about 6 or 7 years ago. Except for Taylor. But I think the only reason I remember him is b/c he went in the booth.

Its amazing when I think about it how many of the best players I can remember on the Irish became the best players at their position last year, after just one year under Weis.

Great call on Page.

As for Browner, one of my favorite SI covers all of time:

Once again a very questionable list, Arnaz Battler at WR????? What about Mayes or even Lake Dawson?????? Fasano at TE????? I could think of at least 3 TE's in the 90's that were better then Fasano, Derek Brown should make that list. Duff and Walton at corners, I think anyone here would take Tom Carter III and Jeff Burris over Duff and Walton anyday and that is just for starters.

Neihaus was awesome.

Walt Patulski - did he play for Atlanta in the NFL - I think I use to have his autograph on a pennant.

How about Jack Snow at receiver? (BTW - he recently passed away)

Andy Heck has to be on the line (he has been mentioned).

Pritchett, Stonebreaker, Stams.

How about Johnny Lujack?
He was 26-1-1 as a starter
3 National Championships
Heisman winner
On top of that, he played both ways and is famous for his game saving tackle to Doc Blanchard against Army in 1946.
