On a roll... Munir Prince runs a 4.16 40.

I'm bored. That said, here is some insight into a kid who could turn out to be a sleeper in this recruiting class.

I was looking back at some stuff I have on Munir Prince and it says he has run the 100 in 10.4 and the 200 in 21.0, despite having run the 40 in the 4.55-4.65 range on his Scout.com profile, etc.

If I'm not mistaken, a 10.4 100 would equate to about a 4.16 40 yard dash time and a 21.0 200 would equate to a 4.2 40 yard dash.

Speed kills and that is blazing fast. I'd really like to see him work his way onto the field... maybe returning kicks?

The 4.16 doesn't directly translate with the 100 meters, however, because you are at top speed for a longer amount of time during the 100 meters. The 40 measures acceleration a little more. Anyway, he is still gonna be a fast lil dude, anyway.

SVO, Not sure sleeper is the right word. He and his team just rolled over Rockhurst (KC) in the MO semis. This kid is a player (which is the main thrust of your post.)

No, it doesn't... but the translation is one I've seen people use on a couple recruiting websites. The fact he can sustain his speed in the 200 is amazing to me... I hope he doesn't disappoint.

A "true" 4.43 is still cooking. Many of the reported times on recruiting sites are severely exagerated. It seems with the new camps and electronically timed 40's, they numbers have gone up a bit over the last couple years.

For a real perspective on 40 times, check on true 40s from the NFL combine. For a 17 or 18 year old to run a true 4.43 is pretty strong, especially if there's quickness and agility to go along with it. Prince will contribute greatly at ND. I can't wait to see how Charlie uses him.

i watch DeSmet play in the championship game this year and even though munir prince was fast and elusive he didn't look anywhere near 4.16 speed. i'd say that he looked like a legit 4.4 guy.

if the kid really ran a 4.2 40, he's at the wrong position. Charlie'd have to get him playing DB and really utilize all that speed.

Again, notice my "On a roll" comment. He isn't there from start to stop, but rather a sustained run.

All I know is he can have sustained speed bursts and not let up. Get him on the field somehow and let him make plays.

If you've seen tape of him, you'll know that once he hits the hole and gets to the sidelines he's a goner.

Aldridge and Prince could be a nightmare for defenses in years to come.

We're getting the speed in the defensive backfield. Prince is needed on offense. There are playmakers there, but no speedy gambebreakers yet.

We may never even get to see the guy on the field much with Aldridge coming in, but if he beats him out for the RB position, or finds a new position, then he might very well earn that 'sleeper' status. I actually believe that Prince would be much higher rated if he had committed later rather than in the early summer (maybe even late spring if I remember correctly?).

I still think Toryan Smith will be the 'sleeper' of the class. He'll only be a sleeper in the sense that the recruiting sites didn't give him enough respect, even though just about every major program in the country was going after him. The guy has tremendous size, speed, and his highlights from video can only be described as 'frightening'.

Needless to say, Toryan Smith will make 'many a quarterback' shit their pants.
