My wife had a dream that we lost the bowl game. I'm never letting her sleep again. But of course, our second baby is on the way, so I'll have some help on that one.

Could this be Kai Forbath situation?

Butch Lewis wants to announce on Saturday at the game while Gerald McCoy wants to wait another 4 weeks. Does CW take the one ready to commit now rather than gamble on getting Leaked at the last minute? Is there room somehow for both Lewis and McCoy to anchor the middle of the DLine?
We can only imagine the recruiting games that are being played at the Army game. They might even be better news than the game itself!

I think both USC and ND want McCoy more than Lewis, although Lewis is not "chopped chicken liver". Let's surmise that USC has let Lewis know that they want McCoy and if they get him Lewis is out. This has got to force Lewis' hand, hence the early announcement. If he picks ND this might make sense. If it's USC this argument goes down the drain.

I don't think either school get's them both but anybody's guess is good at this point. If this weren't so serious it would be great fun!

USC is to recruiting what Florida State was in the 1990s.

They have picked up the pace the last couple of weeks and appear to be gaining ground. They don't recruit anyone under four stars, if that means anything to you. They take the top guys at each position and offer them. And they're getting guys.

Notre Dame's class has balance. Strongside DE, weakside DE. Linebackers, corners, safeties. A kicker. O line, TE, WR. Florida has half a dozen receivers. They surely have other needs. Why so stocked at one spot?

Classic case of Urban trying to get his offense off the ground at Florida. Di they have any "D" commits?

QB, 2 RB, 5 WR, 2 TE, 5 OL, 3 DT, DE, 2 LB, 3 S, 3 CB = 27 Recruits according to Scout.

Last year:

QB, RB, 4 WR, TE, 3 OL, 4 LB, 2 S, CB, K = 18 Recruits according to Scout

I would have to say undoubtedly. Hopefully he worked his tail off, but I'm not sure if he is a prototypical Urban WR.

You can only have five on the field at once. Yikes.
I'll probably throw up right after I say this but my hats off to Urban if he can get a WR like Harvin ( certainly the best WR in the country, if not the #1 player) to sign on when he's looking at 8 others at his position!!! God knows what he tells these guys but they bite!

If that's not top flight recruiting, what is it?

A couple things on the UF WR's.

1. Apparently, a couple of them are candidates for defense. That's not unusual. We have a guy in Prince listed at RB that in other circumstances could come here and play CB. West is listed at WR and could also play D.

2. The rumor is that a couple of UF's WR's may not make the grades to get in. This is the hidden X factor in recruiting rankings and one that thankfully, ND doesn't have to worry about. You don't get the offer until you know you are eligible.

So while UF is taking a lot of WR's, probably only 4 or so will ever see the field at UF as a true WR.

They'll have 13 CBs on the roster, too.

This makes the most sense.

They are up to their asses in CBs, WRs and LBs. Good luck to them.

First of all, item #2 admits this is just RUMOR. Secondly I can't think of any recruit that couldn't get into UF because of grades. If this has any element of truth we would have to believe that Urban is wasting recruiting numbers on people who cannot get into the school!! Until I see that happening I believe it is nonsense. If some don't get in I'll eat crow but I'm not setting the table yet.

It's not about getting into Florida. The NCAA has minimum standards, low though they are, there are big time recruits each year that are offered scholarships but never qualify. I wouldn't say Urban is wasting numbers. This is an extremely common practice at big programs that are not Notre Dame. Each year there are major programs that accept more than 25 knowing full well that at least a few won't qualify. Georgia lost practically half a class like that recently. Come to think of it, this is mostly an SEC practice-a very common one.
