Did Weis make some questionable decisions in that game? Yes. But were those decisions unjustifiable or borne of ignorance? No. The most questionable of Weis' calls was the series of play calls immediately following the first OSU turnover in the 1st quarter. We all know the sequence - Weis calls three runs and then chooses to go for it on fourth and it fails.

I like the call. If I have a gripe it would be with fourth down pass. Up to that point ND was had nothing but success on the ground. There is nothing more demoralizing to a defense than to have the ball pounding down their throat in the red zone. The red zone is where an offensive line establishes real dominance. If the 3rd down run was successful the outcome of the game would have been entirely different. OSU would have been mentally beaten. I would have like to seen another run on 4th down as nutty as that may sound.

I think that was the turning point in the game. It was the lack of execution not the decesion making that doomed that series.

The quality of ND football is much better today than it was a year ago. A little more speed on D and safeties that concern themselves with pass defense as opposed to run defense and this team will get even better.

To me it seemed like OSU studied tape much better then ND did. OSU exploited every weakness and did everything very well. Quinn just looked scared most of the game and afraid of the blitz everytime. It was the first time all season I saw Quinn look like that. The lack of respect by the DB's for the speed of Ginn and Holmes amazed me too.

Before boasting about Weis. I still think it was too early to offer him a contract extension. Not so long ago Ty was the savior of this program.

Weis is a wanted man by the NFL, TY wasnt even wanted by anyone else, therefore we had to extend Weis not only to keep him, but in order to protect against the negative recruiting, we didn't have to do that with TY, first he didn't recruit just golfed all the damn time, and secondly no one wanted him. Weis is recruiting better than anyone in the country, and doing it where they said it couldnt be done. If you are a wanted commodity, and you are blazing the recruiting trails you will get a contract extension, remember the K can be bought out and im sure there are performances clauses. It isnt a matter of what was deserved, it is a matter of what the market bears, I dont think he was going to leave, but as a university you have to squash the rumors, and extend him, it keeps those top recruits coming and it sures up the program. Maybe if someone other than a local high school would have wanted Ty then he would have got an extension, but when no one wants the product there is no reason to raise the price. Im sick of people saying he didnt deserve it, you do what the market bears and the market required us to give him an extension
