Junkhead,
I've always liked, and appreciated your posts, but this is the BEST post I've ever read by you!

and we all post on the #1 ND message board.

Im watching Notre Dame/Undefeated Season right now on NBC sports for maybe the 3rd time. All of these shows are beginning to run together. I've get the chills 3 times during each game they highlight.

#1 in the nation. #1 recruiting class. I never expected we'd see this again. Embrace it and enjoy!!

Yeah buddy, I'll tell ya, I was so tired of watching our glory days on YouTube. It's amazing to finally be living them.

Winning the NC will be icing on the cake, but win or lose on Monday night, Kelly is building a dynasty. We had a few unexpectedly great recruiting classes with Weis, but with the current level of talent development, the celing is off the charts. I can't imagine how amazing some of the current recruits will be with this staff.

Phaq me! I made my bro-in-law record it for me, as I don't have NBC Sports.

No, they're not.

In a few years when we have elite talent, depth, and speed all over the field? Those will be the glory days.

Things change fast, who knows what happens with the coaching staff. I'm enjoying the "return to glory" as it happens.

The Echoes Award ceremony is something new, correct? For some reason I havent heard it mentioned or learned about it until tonight.

The last time we won a National Championship I was 25. I was an avid fan back then, but I was also preoccupied with chasing bush (thank goodness they shaving'em now) and finishing up my military service, so I had a lot to keep me busy. Nowadays much has changed, I know a young man that plays on the team and I'm married with not much else to live for :) , so I don't remember ever being this wrapped up, nervous or anxious about upcoming games as I have this year. I've barely slept in over a month. I believe you're right junkhead, BK is building a dynasty and we'll be a dominating force in college football again for years to come. We have so much to be excited and thankful for. What's funny to me is I'm finding winning may take more years from my life than losing. The next about 72 hours will probably be the longest of my life, but come Monday night win or lose ( I believe we'll win) we have a lot to look forward to.

Go Danny!
Go Irish!

Completely agree, Junkhead. I was in high school in 1988, so my perspective and appreciation is altogether different this time around. Let's soak it all in, gents.

Dynasty? Come on man haha Kelly is setting Notre Dame up to be in contention annually, a la Ohio State/Southern Cal/Oklahoma/etc of the last decade. Let's not get carried away.

I was also 25 years old the last time the Irish won the NC. My oldest son was born that year. He is now 25. Just had a son. (Yes I am a Grandpa now) He is currently stationed at Ft. Drum. 10th Mountain Division. BobD, too much coincidence for the Irish to lose.

Compared to past 20 years, being a perennial NC contender is a dynasty.

My wife knows how big of a fan I am and knows most of my stories about Notre Same but as of the past month I have purposely been low key about the game. I have not been wanting to get overly excited about it for good reason but the past couple days has been too much. After telling her about yet another Notre Dame fact during my lunch break on the phone she sends me a text later asking if I am excited. Here is my text reply...

"I don't think you fully grasp the severity of this game. I started watching Notre dame football when I was probably around 7 years old. My first game i saw on tv those gold helmets running out of the tunnel at their old stadium. My dad told me they were the winningest team in football. I was a fan. A year or so after they won the national championship. They nearly did years following especially in 93 when #2 ND beat #1 FSU in the regular season only to fail the following week to Boston college and finish the season back at #2 while FSU took #1 despite us beating them. Since then the seasons have been mostly disappointing. I have waited 3/4 of my life for Notre dame to get back to this point. This game could show that good can prevail in the world. It is the biggest national championship game ever by any standard. This game could change the sporting world as we know it. The chance for me to give drew (my son) one of the few things my dad gave me as a kid was insight into a team that was on the verge of greatness once again. One small thing in your life that no matter how bad or good things are in your life, on saturdays in the fall, Notre dame will be on for millions to watch and hope that this year could be another amazing season. "

Yeah. I have been holding in my excitement or at least dulled it down for the past month and even further. No more. People at work today and tomorrow will be full on annoyed at me from talking about the game.

Yep, I have created a monster with my 12 year old son. He has become quite the Irish homer. His favorite Christmas gifts are his ND gear. He is quite obnoxious. I love it.

I've been able to enjoy the titles from '66 on, but given the suffering we've been thru since '88 with a few teases sprinkled in, this has been as enjoyable as any. Especially since my sons are now grown and can enjoy this with me.
