Yes i have seen Wolf first hand live and he is a very very good football player. Tenacious blocker and has great hands and will catch anything thrown in his direction. Nothing but upside.

MAC conference actually is comprised of a 40 mile radius where you have State Powers touching each other practically.

Coldwater
Marion Local
St. Henry
Minster
Delphos St. Johns

Coldwater and Marion both won State this year in their perspective divisions. The other 3 were beat by a Marion in regionals and regional semis and State semis.

Saw Wolf play Marion. 10 catches i think..2 TD completely ate up their DE who is playing ball somewhere next year i heard. Had to be pushing 235lbs.

Got the skinny on Wolf from a few assistant friends in the MAC. All said the same thing. Big, strong, athletic and a really great kid i guess. 3 sport star. I guess he is put together and scary what he can do with another year of HS and then in the grasp of a BCS program. Not a blazer (4.8) which i was told is the only thing preventing him from going anywhere in the country. Best they have seen in years.

not knocking the kid (i'm from small town ohio myself), but he does play at the lowest level of competition in the state so that is something that needs to be considered. with that said, however, he's a very good prospect that imo will need to attend camps to receive elite offers from the likes of ND, urban, and a few SEC schools that have interest.

Slow for a TE but would be awesome for an OT. Maybe he can grow into that position.

won't play tackle when he has offers to play TE from 8 other schools....he'd hav to pack on 70-80 pounds to play tackle...don't see that happening.

I would hardly call the MAC the lowest level of competition in the state, I'll go with the TAAC for that.

level of competition plays no real part in recruiting that is why schools put very little stake in stats. MAC football teams in division 6 have beat division 2 and 3 programs every year. Reading articles on this guy on rivals and scout it appears he received offers from 4 of the 5 camps he attended. Irish don't make december visits to schools if they don't feel the kid can play. Especially after they saw him at camp. If 6 BCS programs visit in one week i say i go with their evaluation.

respectfully/completely disagree...size of schools definitely make a difference in recruiting. especially when they are from a small school. kids that are from small schools need to look good on film and wow them at the camp. bigger schools need only one of those two.

I will buy that. Hence the reason he had so many early offers from his Sophomore camps. If i was a recruiter i would have to be able to touch and see a guy before offering? Some are no brainers on film though. Read he injured his wrist or something at OSU camp and that cut his camp circuit short last summer. Found his Junior Film on Rivals...this guy is a beast. A great hand in the dirt TE who can handle the 250lb DE and also catch midrange play action passes. small school yes but that tells me he has not received the level of coaching or physical training yet and that is what is exciting to gauge.

just b/c he's from a small school doesn't mean he hasn't been coached well. and being from a small school means he prolly plays more than one sport too so his weight training has been limited due to that fact.

here's some jr highlights from scout (sorry i know we have limited scout access)

Scout.com: JR Highlights Irish 2014 TE Target

on a side note. a QB from a neighboring school (another small school) recently received an Illinois offer so that gives both he and Wolf offers from Illinois. Not sure if they're friends or not, but these are tight knit communities and i'm sure they talk or stay in contact. Illinois has some heavy Ohio ties in recruiting so i gotta feeling they're going to come pretty hard after these two guys.

Yes looked into that and Bertke kid is from State Champion Marion Local. Big kid 6-5" with a good arm. Pocket passer i was told. Has good rushing yards but mostly just up the gut behind solid line. He lacks good speed and not real elusive i was told.
Yeah i shouldn't of suggested lack of coaching because they are real good up there. I meant he lacked a position coach as smaller schools normally don't have the resources other than a community helper to coach up positions like TE. Wolf is a 3 sport athlete so yes obviously there is tons of upside to his develpment although he is 6-6" 235 as a junior. Minster is a great catholic community, he is a good student, and he fits the type of guy BK is looking for. My two sources rave about him.

Heard through grape vine Wolf is getting a real close look by BK and the gang. Assistant Coach over there i know told me they called to get a current height/weight verified and that normally means they don't want any surprises. I was told 6-5.5 234lbs and is looking really good. This coaches team played Wolf on friday and i guess the way he tells it Wolf was dominating. He had like 9-10 blocks and ran the floor and was athletic as all get out. More i hear about this kid the more i love. He checks out too. Good student, great Catholic town and community, and loves ND apparently. After checking in on Jeb Blazovich i noticed he was at Under Armour combine and his results were not quite what i anticipated. 6-3.5" 223 lbs and ran a 5.1 on laser? I know Weishar is much faster but he fits Eifert mold and probably won't be able to play on the line of scrimmage. With losing 3 of our TE's in 2015 BK may be thinking about adding some depth. Huerman, Smythe, Weishar, Wolf all underclassmen yet in 2015 unless Huermann doesn't red shirt. Need alittle wiggle room if one doesn't pan out.

don't see him getting offered by ND at least until he visits and maybe awhile after that...seems to not be at the top of the charts at the TE position plus we're waiting on a few other guys to make their position more clearly known.

Had a few Minster boosters approach me at work, the lone ND fan, asking me about him and ND. Sounds like he's, as others have mentioned, is a pretty solid ND lean if offered. Told her the same thing I've read in this thread, that it seems like ND has a few higher TE's in their sights, but it's possible.
