The evolution of BK. Good for him for recognizing the adjustments that needed to be made, and for making them. Clearly his ego is anchored in the program's success. Too many people are "me first" kind of guys, and this is one of the worst traits a titular leader can have. You're only leading if others are following, and clearly his guys are following him to the tune of 12-0 (13-0?) this year. Good stuff. Great coach.

Great article.....shows how much the head coaching job at ND takes

That may be why ND does not have any coaches that stay much longer than 10 years. My grandfather and father think the job wore Ara out. They remember that when he quit it was so sudden. They said though you just see how much stress the game put on him during his last game against USC when ND blew a 20 something point lead and ended up losing 56-28 or something like.

another article i ran into while reading the above: irish-d-has-done-wonders-for-kelly-in-2012

my favorite stat is 95 red zone plays for 8 TDs by our opponents. works out to like 1 TD per 12 tries.

I wonder if our offense has done better or worse than that given that red zone efficiency has been an issue. anyone know? my money is on better.

He's referring to our RZ Defense. Not Offense. But thank you for the statistics nonetheless.

I started following ND right before Ara came on board at ND. Definitely my favorite coach. I've said it on this board many times, Kelly and this team remind me so much of Ara's teams. Ara was able to evaluate players talents and move them around all the time with great success. Kelly recognizes that a good athlete can play most any position on offense or defense and is doing the same thing. It's well documented that the grind had worn on Ara. Many late nights in his office working out the most minute detailes. I still remember where I was when I heard Ara had stepped down. It's the first time I had tears in my eyes when it came to Notre Dame.

Kelly has so many of the same traits. This will be a good run for us and it's just beginning.
