Regardless of Wood's decision, I know we all (as Cierre Wood fans) can say, "Mr. Wood, thank you for your hard play for the Irish. Whatever decision you make, you will have fans for the rest of your life!!!!!"

GO IRISH!!!!!!!!!!

So you think that Theo is a Top 5 RB now?

Theo is a versatile back that would be perfect for the WC type of offense, but even then he is pretty much a 3rd down back, ala Kevin Faulk. I don't know if we have any RB that is an elite RB, yet, at ND.

I respect Theo so much.

I think he's carried the rock awesome for us.

But I think Wood has more upside.

And BTW: Theo hasn't had 80% of carries. I'd say 45% and Wood 40%. The last 15% was between GA3 and McDaniels...

I'm fine with him going... The stable is full. Release the ponies. it' means we've grown up and gone beyond dancing class. Theo is the the way....he is the light.

Anyone else hear how Mahone has been running in practice? In fact, I can think of three positions freshmen are going to be pushing starters next year.

*Neg reps to the Bildo that actually calculates percentage of carries repetitions.

No one likes an informed know-it-all. ;)

Theo: 180 carries for 880 yards and 35 rec for 370 yards=215 touches for 1250 all purpose yards (5.8 yards per "carry") through twelve games. Last five games: 85 carries for 427 yards (5.0 yards per carry)

Cierre: 110 carries for 740 yards (6.7 ypc) and 4 rec for 27 yards (6.8 ypc) through ten games=114 touches for 767 all-purpose yards. Last five games: 45 carries for 347 yards (7.7 yards per carry)

I chose the last five games because Cierre only played ten games, so I thought it would better to see how things developed at the halfway point of their shared season.

I do agree that Cierre is a bigger and better threat as a RB than Theo, but Riddick has definitely become Bk's definitive back because of his pass-catching ability-and besides TR has gotten 65% of the carries (85 rushes for Riddick vs 45 for Wood) starting with the OU game. Still, if we need some big breakaway runs, I think that Cierre is the guy to do it.

I did not include Riddick's catches because the difference is pretty obvious since Wood has only four catches all season.

Funny math alert! You're not counting any of the runs of the other backs or designed runs by Golson. So, in conclusion, TR had nowhere near 80% of the carries.

Based on your model of 5 games:

194 total carries (that were credited to idividuals vs "team" as per ESPN)
Theo - 86
Golson - 47
Wood - 45
GAIII - 14
Others - 5

That makes 44% for Theo, not 65 and surely not 80.

I only compared the TWO running backs. Not everyone because people were comparing the two of them.

Theo is obviously the workhorse of the two, while Cierre is the more explosive runner. I personally think that Cierre NEEDS to get more touches against AL but with his one-dimensional playing style, I think it is harder for Kelly to rationalize taking Theo off the field for long enough stretches, particularly because of Theo's unquestionably more versatile skill-set.

Chill out

Agreed. ND would not be here without Cierre's contributions over the ten games that he played.

Ask OU ;)
