Read Why Spurrier Ranked ND at #14

Steve Spurrier stirred things up by voting his South Carolina team ahead of a Clemson team that beat the Gamecocks at the end of the season. But the most startling part of his poll was selecting Notre Dame No. 14. The Irish finished sixth and are playing in the Fiesta Bowl.
"They hadn't really beaten anybody," Spurrier told The Sun on Tuesday. "They didn't hardly beat anyone with a winning record.
"Personally, I think it's a crying shame why they allow them to go 9-2 and play for the big money. I'll always nudge them down a little in my poll. I just don't think it's fair but college football isn't fair. Why do we have to treat those guys differently?"
For the record, Florida coach Urban Meyer turned down the opportunity to vote in the coaches' poll before this season.

I think I'll have to apply for my heman spurrier hater club membership. What an idiot. I hope he looses every game from now on. I should send this to Charlie so he knows how to vote on the gamecocks next year.

Spurrier is a MORON!

Spurrier is a MORON!

Spurrier is a typical LOSER, who couldn't make it in the pros. CW made it BIG in the pros.

CW's quote about how easy it was for NFL dc's to read Spurrier's offensive game plan probably ticked him off. Poor baby. I sure hope ND plays this moron in the near future and ND gives him and his team a good old fashioned SOUTHERN WHOOPIN'!!!!!!!

It's difficult for someone of such stature to admit fault. I was visiting a blog friendly to ND and encountered a distant memory, the Sugar Bowl. He will forever be pissed that a lowly ranked ND slaughtered Florida with a Hall of Fame running back Bettis. I was there. I talked to Bettis at the victory party in the hotel. One of the greatest moments of my life. I was only 11. Because he can't defeat us, he must cripple us in the rankings. This humorously cannot be done since we are incredible. I can't wait until we are the first school to three peat. I can't wait to see his face when he's floating around .500 and we're winning like the Bulls with MJ. GIVE WEIS A 25 YEAR EXTENSION!

Where did Spurrier go to college? His english is horrible. I am not an english professor, but seriously - if this guy came to my house to recruit my son I would be interested to see him read from a note card about the academic environment at S.C. I think there is some envy toward charlie's success in the NFL.

Pretty typical Spurrier shit. If you think he is bad now, ask the Georgia fans what they thought of him during his heyday at UF.

Yep! That was the year of the "name 2 things that don't belong in a sugar bowl" joke.
I watched that game from my wife's hospital room as I held our first child who she gave birth to on December 30th. I had to hand him back to her not long due to the excitement and many visits from nurses asking me to calm down

Yeah, a buddy of mine played on that team....I can't wait to break his stones over what a total dick his old QB is.

He's just pissed b/c he knows ND is stealing Jimmy Clausen from him next year since none of his quarterbacks ever do anything in the pros....enjoy coaching a middle of the run program at which you will never have a chance of winning the SEC Steve, this situation really makes your decision to leave Florida a few years ago look like a good idea.

Notre Dame goes unbeaten with TCU's schedule.

Tech played at Texas, which I'd consider a loss. How about if Notre Dame played Indiana State, who went winless in I-AA? ND would score 90 on those guys.

Laughable.

That's cherry.

You know, some people just are stubborn assholes, and Spurrier is one of them. I'll doubly enjoy every loss he has at South Carolina. I wouldn't mind getting him on the schedule, too.

Rep for you.

I think a win against OSU is very important, it will shut all these haters up. If we lose it will only get worse.

If Mike Davis can't beat Indiana State, I feel bad for his family because they're going to have to move soon. ISU owns IU lately.

Svoboda, I went 3-0 against Indiana State in football.

Who can forget Sycamore great Soso Dede, Running back?

I think everyone went 3-0 against Indiana State. I know Soso... name indicates his ability. LOL

There is word that the school is pondering dropping the football program.

Quite a shame if they do. That was one of my favorite games to play in because it was always in September and always under the lights.

There were some bad issues with coaching there if I remember. Not too long ago, didn't they fire a whole staff and put a skeleton crew in their place?

One of our best recruits was a DT from Terre Huate. I was amazed we got him.

Yeah, they're on their 3rd staff since 1999 I think. Who was the DT?

There will always be the ND haters. Who did SC beat this year?

September 1 Central Florida W 24-15 1-0 (0-0)
September 10 at No. 9 Georgia L 17-15 1-1 (0-1)
September 17 Alabama L 37-14 1-2 (0-2) CBS
September 24 Troy W 45-20 2-2 (0-2)
October 1 at Auburn L 48-7 2-3 (0-3)
October 8 Kentucky W 44-16 3-3 (1-3)
October 22 Vanderbilt W 35-28 4-3 (2-3)
October 29 at No. 23 Tennessee W 16-15 5-3 (3-3)
November 5 at Arkansas W 14-10 6-3 (4-3)
November 12 No. 12 Florida W 30-22 7-3 (5-3)
November 19 Clemson L 13-9 7-4 (5-3)
December 30 vs Missouri 3:30 PM ET Tickets

So they lost 4 games. They beat a hightly touted 8-4 UCF team (who btw plays in a relatively weak Conference USA) <insert navy here>

They beat, nay crushed, the mighty Troy who ended at 4-7. Let's insert <Purdue> who would crush Troy in any game.

They pummeled Kentucky who ends at 2-6. Hey, isn't that about the record of <Syracuse>?

They squeeked by Vanderbilt. who ends the seaseon at 5-6. Thanks again <Stanford> for choking so many times.

They beat a quality opponent in Tennessee by a whopping 1 point. ND beat them by 20...I don't think we need to insert anyone here because that speaks for itself.

They upended the razorback in Arkansas, which ended the season at 4-7. I think we can insert a close to qualifying for a bowl 5-6 <Pittsburgh> team here.

Perhaps their best win of the season was against a legitimate Florida team, which ends the regular season at 8-3....not bad. Let's insert <Michigan> who is 7-4. Their 4 losses (Ohio State (9-2), ND (9-2), Wisky (9-3), and Minnesota(7-4)) are to 2 BCS bound teams and 2 bowl bound teams. Oh yea, and Michigan upset another BCS bound team in Penn State...talk about a rough schedule.

Let us continue further. Insert <BYU> and <Washington>. We beat 2 more teams than SC and one is going to a bowl. I bet Steve would still think ND "didn't beat nobody" though. He probably also ranked SC ahead of ND...anybody now he he rated everyone?

To score 30 as a team on Florida is impressive.

I'm still not sure how they won that game.

THAT was a SWEEEEET "W". ANYTIME the 'popcorn sellers' lose, it makes me happy.

Speaking of sweet W's, kudos to Brey&Co for nice work in 'Bama.

Spurrier can't really be taken too seriously, and he knows this. He's a phenomenal college football coach but an admitted A-hole. If you can just acknowledge that up front, he's actually pretty damn funny.
