I really love this franchise, I just wish EA would at least put up the front like they give a s***. That's my only complaint. The game features and graphics get better and tighter every year, but then they continue to have errors and glitches that they never fix either. My best guess is that since they have no other competition, they simply don't feel like putting the money or effort into fixing them. They occasionally patch a problem, but often times it's rushed out the door and something gets broken as they fix whatever the original problem was.

Anyway...I use my own custom books on both offense and defense. I started with Stanford's offense and built a hybrid West Coast Smashmouth style book. My defense is very similar to the "multiple" defense where you get lots of formations to sample from, but only about three tiers of plays per formation. I like having the freedom to find things in both play books because I reorganized all my plays into groupings. Yep...totally OCD like that.

By the way, this ain't the Brandon Weedon / Dez Bryant OSU Cowboys, that's for sure! My roster is loaded with a better than average amount of suck. Really quite remarkable for a supposedly "name" program like these guys.

After losing Ash in the start of the second quarter against WVU this week and playing McCoy to the half, it's official: my red-shirt freshman QB of the future is now the starter. His throw power and accuracy are almost as good as the upper class men and he can move (small hit to awareness, though).

Yeah I was trying to play my game earlier and it kept telling me the dynasty servers couldn't be reached or something. Had to keep trying for like an hour before it finally downloaded and whatnot. Made me late for class, but at least I got my game in haha. Priorities right?

Just out of curiosity, what are you doing to get those stats? Just abusing the CPU's inability to defend the 5WR?

No, my favorite plays come out of a 3wr 1 te 1rb set.
My burner kept getting open deep...it was a cakewalk.

I was so angry I abused them...kept my starters in and poured it on. I was downright spiteful due to EA's servers screwing me over 5 games in a row. If I didn't simulate the defense that would have taken all day.
I don't like to play like that.

I hate EA.
I'm done with their sports games when we finish this dynasty

I'm coming down with some flu like symptoms so I'm pretty easily angered and I was all kinds of pissed.

Oh I feel ya Alamo. EA pisses me off to an extent I wasn't sure was possible when they first started doing these errors and glitches a few years ago. Now, I've just come to expect it (which is sad). My buddies and I have literally been playing this damn franchise since it began and it's like a staple of our lives at this point. But, the quality of the games in crucial areas has just been declining so much over the years I'm going to have to see massive improvement to get next years copy. You can only take such egregious treatment before you have to walk away, no matter how big of a fan of the franchise and college football you are.

Um, by that point I was only down like 50-8 or something...did you really expect me to go play defense? I dunno...I've been playing this game for a long *** time but there's two things I definitely notice when it comes to online play:

1. My friends and I just seem to play differently. We play with a lot more hyper-realism than a lot of online players do (not necessarily people in this dynasty, just most people I've ever played online). So, our games tend to be a lot closer.

2. EA, for all the things they may or may not do well, have **it-TASTIC equipment! I mean, in this day and age of technology there should be absolutely NO REASON for the terrible lag and crappy elements to online play. Our game was virtually unplayable because of that.

But, it's all good.

I keep seeing Alamo put up gaudy passing stats. And now he's done it against a human player. Does 2 safeties in deep zone not cover the long ball? In essence: WTF?

When I play three downs of tough defense against an offense, then they go 5WR to exploit game mechanics to get the first down I get really, really upset. Not saying your doing that Alamo, just that, well, something doesn't smell right.

Nah...the AI in this game, which was supposed to be "improved" is total BS. If you have a handful of good long pass plays you can deep ball it all day long. There's a play I used to have that was in I formation and literally EVERY time I would get either roughing the passer for me or a 60+ yard throw and catch. It was ridiculous.

Just looking at the stats from your game I see touchdown passes of 76, 71, 23, 61, 5, 14 and 36.

I am doubting that you're so bad at defense that the game isn't responsible for allowing this type of success. Really, really disappointing.

It was 31-8...and I was just messing bro.

I am definitely not conservative. I did try running early on. But the lag made that so hard to do. I use a 5 wide sometimes. I just make sure to throw to speed players...Tulsa has A LOT of speed between my 2 rbs and 2 or 3 solid wrs. They were really underrated at 3 stars the last two seasons. I talked the scrambling QB and both RBs into staying for their senior seasons. SPEED is the name of the game.

I had some lucky INT's too. I usually sim my defense. So I play that super vanilla and have lots of guys (7) in coverage. I just control the D line most of the time. If the lag hadn't been so bad Dre's QB would have done very well running the ball on passing plays.

If pressed I just snap the ball and lob it up and hope one of my burners can break free (hence all the incomplete passes)...Garrett usually does break free...I like to throw to the middle of the field, I feel that you can place the ball more accurately there than on the outside. If not pressed I hit someone immediately after the snap, usually a running back lined up in the slot or whatnot. The defensive AI is really really bad...they need to do a lot of work yet.

Running is near impossible at 10FPS. So I gave up on my power option running game for the most part. I did run the score up at the end a little for Green's Heisman run.

There ya go. That's my strategy. Now you know.

Well, just in case anyone is curious (even you, Alamo) those long passes were in dime or 1-5-5 pass heavy coverage, mix of zone sometimes and man others, with the DB's pushed back and looking for the pass. LOL That's how sad the AI is (one of the things EA said was "much improved" this year). It's odd really...when the game came out, I thought the "receivers not lighting up until they were open and looking back" as well as the "defensive back AI" worked much better then compared to now. Maybe it got broke during a patch? It is what is is. I'm pretty sure all of us are very smart and very accomplished players. It really just comes down to talent and learning to adapt to an imperfect and screwed up system in the form of the AI.

To be honest, I wasn't the slightest bit upset about the final score or anything. The only thing I have complaint about during this game was Alamo running up the score to get stats for his QB (who's in the Heisman race). While I understand the logic, running the score up is never cool under any circumstances and should be left for the CPU.

I'm disappointed that these settings aren't producing the type of results we get in my other online dynasty. We've had a few blowout scores, but 90% of the time it's all 30-21 type games...wins within' a few scores of the loser. I blew out #2 Oregon once like 65-34, but that was with an A++ Irish team and Oregon was overrated to begin with.

As I was telling Andy in Sactown, I should have totally brought in my alma mater when we did the restart because they would be very entertaining to me to play. I went to a DII school in Central Missouri, the Mules (49ers TE Delanie Waker is from there). Anyway, I made them one star and craptastic, but it's my real school. The school generator is really pretty kick *** when you're a designer and can build logos right! My friends and I have done these dynasties before where we all start with the exact same roster and school grades, just player names are different, and then go from that point. It's pretty fun because it separates the men from the boys on playing and recruiting terms.

Their whole team is in shambles to be honest. But yeah, the defense is terrible.
