This team has the big 'mo and there is no way that Syracuse will come in here on Senior day and have a chance. It also helps that they suck this year.

ND should be about a 33 point favorite. The Orangemen were shut out today by South Florida.

The 'Cuse game is worth $7 million. Stanford the other $7 million.

And there is football to be played, too.

How about a TD or two for Shelton on his last home game
I'm all for that. This guy is almost forgotten because he is #4 or #5 in the progression but he keeps the defense honest. Weis ought to try to get him TD.

ND -34.5

better be a shutout
I don't care about the point spread on this one. I would like to see some of the "other guys" on this team get a chance to play. Nice if Shark, Stovall, Quinn got the second half off.

Who was it on this board that coined the "pound of flesh revenge tour?" Chalk this one up as another payback. That game at the Carrier Dome was one of the lowest points in ND football I can ever remember.

I would love to see all those seniors we never hear about play. How cool would it for Marty Mooney to complete a pass in ND stadium?

Syracuse has one of the nations top pass defenses in the country, and they did play some games close at the beginning of the year. I would look for them to play their best game yest against us, but I don't believe it will be near enough. Their run defense is very close to the bottom. I REALLY hope Thomas gets the mahority of carries, bc another week of Walker dancing in the backfield is going to add to several more 2nd down and 12-14's that force responsibility on to quinn and the O-line which might not be a good thing with their pass defense.

I know most of you hate when some of us bring up Walker =/ --
We need a bruising HB, because under Weis we are prepping a O-line more towards pass defense. There aren't going to be as many holes as there would be in a run heavy O-line. Ergo, a runner that lowers his head and breaks through the line is better for this offense than one running East-West causing occasional holding penalties.
Anyway, that just turned into a rant about walker. Thoughts?

Thanks Captain Obvious...while it is almost certain that we will crush the cuse and that McNamara will be rooting for our football team, I don't know that i would put a statement out there that defines everybody's thoughts on your behalf, because if we don't win in the fashion that we should...your credibility could be shot. This is one of those, "you have nothing to gain, but everything to lose" statements. In support of what you have to say, however, I will jump in with you and agree. Go Irish!!!

Is it necessary to take shots at people?

Wave, It has been my experience that the things I agree with are OBVIOUS or at least should be. And I can usually give you five reasons why the things I disagree with are nonsense. What we give here are opinions and I don't think anybodies credibility is at risk.

Top pass defenses? 'Cuse has 12 ints half of those coming from one player. ND's less than scary pass D has 12 ints. True, ND has allowed nearly 900yds more yards passing, but the ND's competition so far has been a pass happy group (Mich St. USC BYU) 'Cuse has played no one of any offensive repute and allowed a ton of points.

Is it a tough pass D or are they so ineffective at stopping the run that passing isn't required to win? I think it's the latter. If Quinn and Co. want to throw for 300+ and 3TDs they could.

Yea, I felt horrible after that loss. A terrible way to end the season. Time for payback. I'd like to see a score like... Irish 49 Cuse 3

This Syracuse team disappears off of the schedule after this year and that's a shame.

There is some young talent there and once the new staff gets their own ideas and players in place, they will be competitive again.

This should really be more lopsided than the Purdue game was. And it will be much more fun than some previous Senior Days at ND as of late.

If they score even 10 points, I'll be pissed at the defense. The 'Cuse's offense is deplorable. It's non-existent, invisible even. We beat them 56-3.

Syracuse will reemerge after the new coach installs his system. He came into an option team and had to convert to the drop back--no mean feat. they have a great coach and staff and will be back strong.

While this should be a cake walk for ND I hope to see some of the seniors and second string guys get to play a good part of this game. I am anxious to see Wolke and maybe even Sharpley. If that happens the score may not be what we expect.

you're probably right. Charlie doesn't believe in running up the score.

As long as he keeps the old uniforms. I don't care what anyone says, I like when teams go back to the old school uniforms. They look better.
