it's always a good sign when the parents like ND. also i read where there was speculation that terrence austin was a silent commit, but that only what i read UCLA is still very much in the picture.

There's no question.

They are.

SC must be getting worried....their two biggest rivals going through uprisings.

ND has a week to prepare for both in 2006.

I want SC bad.

I wish we'd play them again this year. I'm praying that UCLA knocks them off because you know the BCS would be salivating at a chance to give us a rematch with them.

Here's to Texas, VT, Bama and UCLA winning out.

After further review, Va Tech has the best defense I've seen and can beat USC.

Jimmy Williams covering Jarrett. Adibi shadowing Reggie Bush. I think the Hokies could run the ball right down their throats.

I'm hoping Texas loses and/or UCLA beats SC. I don't think Texas beats SC. I think Va Tech can because of the defense they have.

And SC doesn't want to see Va Tech...or ND again.

Jiggs, I think you've got it right on Va. Tech. Texas won't beat SC. I don't think UCLA can beat SC either. They can score a lot of points but give up too much for an offense like SC. The game might be 63 to 52 but SC wins.

Va.Tech has the complete pckage. They would be sky high for SC and have all the weapons to dominate. Although I would like to see UCLA beat SC I would like to see Tech play them even more.

Watch Tech and Miami on Saturday. Tech wins big at home.

That Tech-Miami game will be a snot knocker. Two terrific defenses. In the end, I like Va Tech against Kyle Wright any day. That DE Tapp would kill Matt Leinart.

If Va Tech runs the table in the ACC, wouldn't that be a step up from running the table in the Big 12? Texas' win at Ohio State is going to carry them.

I think UCLA can beat USC, but it would take an ND like game plan of ball control. I think Va Tech can flat out play them straight up, 30 minutes to 30 minutes of ball control.

I don't think anybody beats SC in the Rose Bowl, I don't care how good their defense is. Its practically a home game for them being right there in L.A.

It would be a home game for SC, but that VT defense is as advertised. SC would also have to account for Vick coming out of the backfield. V Tech's defense would salivate at the opportunity to play SC. They also have the speed to keep Reggie Bush from getting to the corner and exploding through a hole. It's just crazy how Virginia Tech games play out. The defense often experiences a "feeding frenzy" forcing numerous three-and-outs, creating turnovers, and converting those turnovers into TDs. It's amazing to watch sometimes. They are probably a more complete team than Texas. With Texas, if Young is having a bad game, it seems the rest of team plays bad as well. Just go to last week's game against Ok St for proof.

It seems that Jackson, being a Florida kid, is wrestling with himself as to why he likes ND so much.

Folks down there think the big talent like Jackson would be crazy to leave and head up North rather than play for the Canes, Noles or Gators.

I really like Jackson and hope that he joins this class. Hopefully he trusts his instinct and goes Irish.

Clermont (Fla.) East Ridge had a perfect 10-0 regular season and were the No. 1 ranked team in Class 6A, but the Knights knew they were going to have their hands full with their first round playoff opponent. Orlando-Edgewater, who just weeks before held the state's top ranking, went on the road and upset East Ridge in overtime, 27-24, ending the season for wide receiver Richard Jackson and the rest of his teammates.

It was a disappointing finish for Jackson, who left the game early with an injury.

"I didn't play in the second half," Jackson said. "I got hit on a punt and it gave me a concussion. I could have played though. I would have known what to run. At first, I didn't know what quarter we were in. I was totally dazed. I remember some stuff from the game, but the first and second quarter is all mixed up. We were all sad after the game, especially the seniors becuase it was our last game. I told the younger classmen to look up because you still have another year to play."

Jackson estimated that he finished the season with 550 receiving yards. As far as recruiting, not a lot has changed. He took visits to Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech and Notre Dame earlier in the season and is still trying to work out a date with Miami.

"I haven't made plans," Jackson said. "I'll probably visit Miami in December. Right now I'm just focused on basketball. We practice tomorrow."

Jackson maintains he's still considering all four of those schools.

"I really don't have any favorites," he said. "It's really just the same ones. I might have a decision soon though."
