I think he meant that he'd rather see the Irish against USC than the Irish vs. Penn State or Miami, which are the two teams being talked about mainly as potential opponent in a BCS game for ND this year.

Personally, I'd rather ND play SC again next year, out there, last game of the year at night with two weeks to prepare. January is too soon for a second chance. I'd like that game to sit in their stomaches for a year so they'll be hungry come next November.

And if SC stumbles, I'll be shocked. If anyone is going to do it, it is probably Texas. I can't see anyone stopping that offense unless they hold the ball for 40 minutes.

Should ND finish 9-2, I'd love to go to the Fiesta Bowl and get the Big East winner. There has been some talk about an Ohio State matchup and I'd like that too.

The Bucks knocked ND around those two years under Holtz. I'd love a victory there.

Miami and Penn State's defenses would be difficult to plan against. It would be interesting, but so will the performances against Navy, 'Cuse and Stanford.

SC has some tough mathup coming up. Granted, I don't expect anyone to play them as tough as ND did, but you never know with rivalry games. And Cal and UCLA are up there. Anything can happen on any day.

after seeing what Arizona did to them, UCLA is gonna get creamed in that game. Hate to say it, but that defense is worse than ND's. ND is at least the "bend but don't break" philosophy, UCLA is more the "break, break, break, and then break again" philosophy. Reggie Bush is gonna make them look silly.

If anyone's gonna do it in the regular season it'll be Cal, but I don't think they really have a chance either w/ the way they've played lately. Its up to Texas in the Rose Bowl I think. If that game were anywhere but Pasadena I'd like Texas, but it'll be tough for them to come into L.A. and beat USC there, I just don't see it happening...At least on the bright side Reggie Bush will have absolutely no reason to come back after another National Title...

Playing Penn State or Miami shouldn't be any differnet than playing USC. We had them beat, and we can beat these two or anybody else.

Give Charlie the time to prepare and he will have the team ready to kick butt. And all of you know he'll have a month before the bowl game to prepare.

Secondly, our defense is improving. Look at how Zibby sat back for that interception in the 4th quarter. He was told to look for that specific route. Now that is what I call scouting and good coaching.

Jiggs, My calender says that ND will NOT have 2 weeks to prepare for SC next year. We play ARMY on Nov. 18 and SC on the 25th. Is this right?

I haven't seen a set date for Army yet. You could be right.

I know there are open weeks before UCLA and SC. The schedule I have doesn't have Army slotted in yet.
