How does advancing work in the offseason? Everyone has to hit "ready to advance" step-by-step? If so, I vote we advance every two days, cut down on the offseason time

Yeah but my concern is waiting four days for people to convince players to return, or to do one week of recruiting. These things only take 10-15 mins tops, so I think we should advance every two days or so.

I know people have work/class/busy schedules, but we were consistantly late on our advancing schedule, and we should make this offseason shortttttttttttt

Recruiting classes should be done before the end of the season. ANY post season recruiting will be done before week 4-5. We really should accelerate this and get to position changes as soon as possible.

Amen, I don't like to oversign and cut a bunch of guys, especially since you know the recruits rating ahead of time now. Now that they don't add new recruits to the database at the end of the season, off season recruiting should consist of a visit in week one or two tops.

The exception would be for a team like Alamo with Tulsa. If he decides to stay at Tulsa, I could see him adding a few 2 or 3 star gems late in the recruiting game and needing the offseason recruiting (that's what I have to do with WKU and Tulane in my offline dynasties). But everyone else is at a big school, and should have classes good to go by now.

Disclaimer: not knocking your recruiting skills Alamo, just relating my recruiting experience with similar, smaller schools.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Pretty sure Alamo is moving on to bigger and better things than Tulsa, but we should double check with him. If he's ready we might all be.

Anyone actually need to recruit this off-season?

Actually, I will go ahead and advance tonight since I think everyone is done. Then, what I would like to do is advance nightly from here on out till next season's week one. If for some reason you cannot do this, then just let me know and I'll hold up. But, since there are so many parts to the offseason, nightly to me is the MINIMUM advancing that should be done.

I am sooo floundering... :) It's hard for me to divert my attention from Notre Dame to other teams and stick with them through seasons (hence my team jumping). I'm kind of in this mode where I'm trying to find something that sticks, for whatever reason, just so I have something to really latch on to and get excited about. It's interesting to note that if you take over a team you inherit the goals the regime before you did (or I would assume didn't) accomplish before you.

This is my first go-around with online carousel, I don't desire to go after another coaching job so I went ahead and hit "ready to advance." I did check the carousel though, and the only two jobs I saw were Boston College and another that escapes me (I think a C-USA job).

I think I'll stick with Wisconsin, though I admit I was about 3% tempted to try and rebuild at BC.

Probably won't have any jobs worth taking til next season...Might have to stay in Tulsa!

I signed an extension with Tulsa...BC just doesn't do it for me.
That was the only opening.

F that.

I will need to do all 5 weeks of offseason recruiting...but Dre...we can exchange contact info if you would like so I can do it and you can advance as soon as I finish the week. I really will need to try to get more studs...I may end up staying at Tulsa forever.

P.S. My real name is not Melvin Hawthorne III

Do you want someone else since the job market is crappy? I have found in the times I've used the Coaching Carousel that few "good" jobs open up often. I mean, it's rather realistic...how likely is it that OU for example would fire Bob Stoops or have him retire? lol I can get you on a different team if you want, we just have to have you retire and re-invite you. Just let me know.

By the way, one thing I don't know if anyone has tried and/or done but this is something my friends and I have and it's been pretty fun. We create schools in the team builder and give each one identical categories and rosters. Then, from there, it's truly square one and a zero level that everyone starts from. It's pretty interesting to see who recruits what, who rises to the top and who falls, etc. when EVERYTHING is on a completely even keel. :)

Anyway, the dynasty has been advanced past coaching carousel. I went ahead and kept everyone with their current team, so if you want someone else, let me know. We're now at "Players Leaving".

I think the team builder thing would be pretty legit. I was actually going to kill some time at work this week creating my own team online. My school doesn't have a football team, so I was planning on making one and starting them off as a cupcake and building the program in an offline dynasty. I tried it with last year's game and liked it, but I cheated and made my junior running back a stud...

My alma mater is a Div II, but pretty good for one. However, cupcake by Div I standards. I was just looking at research a guy at Operation Sports did on the Coaching Carousel. Through extensive testing, he realized 2.5 prime coaching jobs come open each season. But, there's a factor he believes is "best fit for the job" which may be tied to play style, coach integrity, etc. which helps the CPU choose. Either way, not a ton of great jobs.

I'm ready to advance.
I convinced my QB and 2 HBs to stay for their senior years! **** JUST GOT REAL.
This offense may shatter last year's records...providing I have blockers!

NCAA Single season interception record?

Game on. <font color="#FF8000" size="4">Hook'em Horns!</font>
Edit: On a serious note, I'm also ready to advance. I'm a young team I never projected to get to the NCG. Young team saddled with under-performing upper class-men. Year 1 < Year 2 < Year 3 (#1 Recruiting Class red-shirted and D.T.F. [you up]).

It's largely predetermined. Most of the time they will be <font color="#00FF00" size="4">VERY HIGH / HIGH</font> or <font color="#FF0000" size="4">VERY LOW / LOW</font> for certain reasons (doing things right for the latter; broken promises, depth creating a lack of playing time for the former). This creates situations where they're really easy to keep in the fold with a weak promise or almost impossible to keep because you can't very well promise, say, a national championship when your not in contention. Even if you keep that player, they WILL leave after you break that promise.

That said, occasionally you might get a <font color="#DF7401" size="4">MEDIUM</font>. In those instances you have to gauge for yourself what promises you are going to be able to uphold. Play the largest one you think you can honor and say a prayer.

Honestly, the best solution is to just take your lumps if you lose someone first year or two and minimize the situations you can't control. Adjust your recruiting accordingly. Roster management makes this a non-issue after a few seasons, for the most part if your "doing it right" (tm).

Dynasty advanced to Week One Recruiting! Please try to get that done by tomorrow morning please.

Hey Andy, just wanted to let you know I will be making some changes in your Big XII at the start of next season. I put SMU and Houston into the Big XII to get it back up to twelve teams. Well, it would seem the Big East is finally going to go through with expansion and create two divisions and a championship game so I need to move them and a few others over there.

They are absorbing Central Florida, Memphis, Houston, SMU, San Diego State and Boise State. So, I will find another two to put into the Big XII and move them over to where they will be shortly.

As for me, I think I'm going to come join you in the Big XII. I'm not feeling the Seminoles either (man, I wish I could get into one of these non-Irish teams. Maybe I should go coach the San Jacinto Ladies Cosmotology School. lol)

I don't much like the "promise" system when you're trying to convince a player to stay. I would love to keep my Freshman OLB that is a 77 overall, but it is also unrealstic that the only promise that will sway him is promising him that he will have 10+ sacks next season.

First, he's an OLB in a 4-3. He's not blitzing that much. Second, even if I moved him to MLB so he could blitz (I blitz MLB often), I would have to start him over a better player.

I don't get options like in recruiting to promise Conference/Natl championships, so it's annoying.

However, even though he started as "very low" in returning, I promised him five sacks and it somehow convinced him to stay. I guess I'll just have to blitz him in garbage time throughout the season.

Also Dre, I don't plan on recruiting at all so don't worry about waiting on me if I don't sign on to hit "ready to advance." Advance whenever others are ready.

Lucky. You'll have to remember to formation sub him into the Mike of your favorite MLB blitz in garbage time against cupcake foes. 5 sacks in a season is very manageable. Just need to remember to get him his [QB] touches.

Also, to any thread passer by's, we're going through season one, post-season recruiting, about to enter the pre-season. Which means it's a great time to hop on-board if you're interested in some great games with solid game sliders.

DO ET!
