Cierre- best RB on the team 2012 or 2013 hands down. If you argue it then you havent watched football.

Theo - damn good RB. He honestly is just running hard as hell and getting the job done. I think BK like Cwood and knows what he is gonna get week in and out with both. Its just Theo has been consistent all year and adds to the passing game as well.

I fully agree Cwood should be getting at least 15 touches a game. But at the sametime we are 10-0 and theres not much reason to mess with a good thing. Cierre is going to get paid in the NFL at some point in his career. The kid is talented and has that NFL vision. I dont think its really going to matter whether he comes out this year or next year bc he is one of those guys that wont test well at the combine, but he will turn heads once he is in a camp.

Amir - healthy = starting RB at usc as a true frosh. thats all that needs to be said. unhealthy = next man in.

Mahone - He has done well on scout team this year. He did actually score a TD in practice on the first team and took some heat from the coaches, so its a good sign if he is scoring TDs vs our D lol It will be interesting to see if they bulk him up, or let him stay that size and work his speed/agility hard.

Cam - Kid is a serviceable back. 3rd down kind of kid and someone who can fill in for a game if someone goes down. He is just one of those "RKGs". Where he might not get snaps, but he is gonna make plays on SpTeams and push the starters each day

GA3 - I think he just needs to fine tune the mental part of his game. He is still thinking a little bit too much. He has all the potential in the world. He just needs to drop that pad level, and keep getting stronger. I suspect he will be the #2 RB next year.

Jamel James - Love this kid. Right now...we are wearing teams down with Theo. Just imagine giving this kid the rock as a fresh RB in the 4th. 240 lbs of steam. Im not sure where he fits in next year esp if Mahone comes of age, but I have a feeling he may be used on short yardage. There is no reason to "redshirt" him with ND prob taking 2 RBs in 2014.

All in all you know what you have coming next year from this position. Its a good corps, but could be great if Amir stays healthy and GA3 can play like a starter consistently. GA3 is almost there. Theres a lot of talent there. And if Cwood does decide to comeback then it will be great from the start
Great post TTP!

I would agree that Cierre is the best runningback on the team. And I would also agree that Amir will be the starting runningback next year. GAIII is a game breaker and will be very good. But if Amir can start from day one at USC he is able to grasp schemes a little faster than GAIII has been able to.

He didn't. If I remember correctly, he started later in the season, for one game, against Colorado. I know Lane Kiffin was high on him, praising him as "possibly the best back on the team" or something, but he started due to injuries I believe.

Regardless, Carlisle should be terrific.

You are right about CW clearly being the best next year if he returns but this year? I would say they are much closer than your "if you argue you haven't watched football" makes it seem.
Lets look at the skills that a RB needs to be successful between Riddick and Wood

Speed: Wood wins hands down
Make you miss: Wood againg hands down
Slippery (the ability to wiggle out of tackles): Riddick
Tough yard: Riddick is much better at driving the defenders back when contact is made
Pass game: Riddick
Homerun threat: Wood with his speed and ability to make you miss he is much better at this.

I would say this, Wood is the much more physically gifted runner but Riddick can do things that Wood can't or won't. Also Wood has the tendency to dance too much.

Maybe Cierre's passion doesn't translate well through the TV but Theo plays like it's his last game. That might push him over Cierre, but like has been said Cierre is def more talented.

I think he comes back, but probably wishful thinking.

I don't think so. He is a late 1st round to mid 2nd round talent. I doubt he goes before the 4th this year. The incremental difference in earnings would be substantial.

And it may also come down to the outcome of the NC.

I'm thinking the most likely candidates to return are Martin and Watt.

Would absolutely love to have him return but know its just wishful thinking.

Yup.

We win and he's out.

We lose and he stays.

Win/win where he's concerned.

This is our season.

He gone. ;)

I'm still up in the air. Even if we win a NC, doubt he goes if projected outside the second round. I really, really hope he comes back. I love me some CW.

I wonder how he would project for the draft? It might be smart for him to stay. Next year his stock/ numbers would rise without having to split carries with Riddick. Also, he would be another year stronger and smarter.

Ask Matt Barkley how he feels about returning to USC right about now? Just sayin'

He's going to be a mid-round pick. Smart runner who knows how to find holes, breakaway speed as we've seen, and he is pretty shifty. Going to be a good NFL running back IMO.
