Id love to see him be Irish. He looks like he might need to get a bit bigger for blocking as he is kind of lanky but he seems like he could be a very good recieveing TE and he looks athletic.

it'd probly be better for him if Fasano came back for his last year anyway. If he doesn't, one of the older kids could get the starting job over Reuland since he'll only be a freshman, and there's a good chance once somebody works his way into Charlie's offense like a Joey Hibben, it could be pretty hard to unseat him.

Scott Smith is the #2 MLB over upperclassmen, Steve Quinn #2 Apache over upperclassmen, Bruton #2 WS, McCarthy #2 SS, Schapp starts @FB, Duncan and Turkovich are backup OTs. There are 9 true freshmen on 1st or 2nd string Offense and Defense and a bunch more playing Special Teams.

CW says freshman will play when they're ready. Hord just got on the field Saturday. Herring a week or two earlier.

When Reuland or any other freshman is ready, he'll play.

And keep in mind CW uses sets with 3 TEs - on pass plays.

I understand all that, my point is Hibben will probly be more ready to play next year than Reuland thanks to being in the program for a year already. Now, give Reuland a year to learn, and that might even the playing field immensely.

I concur with your point it's the one I made in the Sharpley, Frazor, Jones discussion. But Reuland will still play as a freshman.

oh yeah, he might play, but I doubt he'd start. in other words, he wouldn't be in Fasano's spot next year one way or the other. If fasano comes back it'll probly be between him and Hibben for that spot in a year, and w/ a year in the program I like Reuland's chances of winning that battle immensely better than I would if it were next year and him as a freshman up against Hibben in his second year.

I am sure that CW will use the best players at their given positions. Reuland is a special athlete and apparently has not dropped a pass since Grammer School but he is playing a skilled position which means he must first learn the offense before he is going on the field.

If he becomes Irish I would not be surprised if he gets some playing time as a freshman but I believe it would be limited to late game duty when the outcome is secure. Let's hope we can continue this discussion next year when he is in the Blue and Gold.

i read in my blue and gold illustrated that there's speculation that ND is the leader for reuland.

I wouldn't count UCLA out of this.

SC isn't using Byrd as much as ND uses Fasano and UCLA uses Mercedes Lewis.

Lewis is the best TE in the country.

Still, I like ND's chances with Reuland.
