I think Quinn now has a seat reserved at the Downtown Athletic Club

couldn't agree more. One more good showing against Tennessee, and he can go buy his plane ticket to JFK.

Kmac, you're the only person that agrees with me on this....

I'm not big fans of them either. Never got having an SC alum in the broadcast booth. I'd like to see someone from ND get involved at least as an analyst (Jerome Bettis perhaps?:) )

Don't look for it to happen. As much as ND opponents claim it's the Notredame Broadcasting Company, NBC is going to have non-ND announcers to fight that image that it's the ND Network. And ND isn't going to push it either. They want arms length separation as well.

As much as you guys don't like Haden, I doubt you'll find a "fairer" presentation from some other Big 10, 12, Pac 10, SEC, ACC ex-jock.

I chalk it up to inexperience. NBC only covers 11, maybe 12 games a year, all of them Notre Dame's. By contrast, ABC covers dozens of games a year, sometimes a dozen in a day through the miracle of regional coverage. They are a well-oiled machine.

I might get lynched for this, but you know who might be interesting for NBC's booth? Bob Davie. He surprised me with the Purdue game. He finally seemed to be over his bitterness from getting fired, and while he may not be an elite coach, he's a pretty good analyst in the booth.

I don't think you should be lynched for that. I watched the LSU game tonight and I enjoy Davie. Some of the best analysts were poor coaches. When NBC still had the NFL they had better people in the booth. Hammond just does plan suck, I would love to see someone like Don Criqui in the booth.

I like NBC and Hammond. Haden is getting better. He is starting to pull for notre dame.

Charlie Jones was a great announcer when he did it back in the 90's for NBC, always enjoyed watching games called by him.

Great point on the paucity of games NBC covers and considering it's only home games it's more like a half dozen which underscores your point. NASCAR, PGA, and ND Football aren't interchangeable.

I agree with your assessment of Davie's abilities and while he handled one game without awkwardness, a season is too much. Even after "his" players are all gone it still awkward talking about the history of a series with the team of the week and reviewing USC '98, clock management, offensive coordinators, or when he updates the A&M score. Too much quicksand.

Heh... looks like my math was off last night. You're right, thank you. :)

And yeah, Davie does have some baggage, but I think that actually makes him more interesting in the booth, because he's been there. He knows how special Notre Dame football can be.

What did Powers-Neal do? Does anybody know? He has screwed up his draft status. Plus, it would be good to have him in the backfield. I liked the Schwapp, Powers-Neal combo. Comments about the game.....I would like to see the safeties play deeper. That way they wouldn't get beat deep so much. The corners are always left in one-on-one coverage. They need to tweak that secondary. Ambrose Wooden will be a good corner next year though. Also, I think that we need to realize that Charlie is a smart guy. He's not going to run on 8 and 9-man fronts. That would be stupid.
