Our NC hopes and Te'o Heisman

Well...

That had to be the ugliest win in a long time. Has this essentially ended our hopes for the NC if two teams win out? Does Teo's shot at a Heisman go down the drain?

Thoughts?

Best win in a long time.... showed the heart of this team.

We would have never won that game in any era since Lou.

Things are different now.

I agree definitely moving in the right direction. This might not be the NC year, but it is coming together beautifully.

I believe Mayock said if this is a "Team of Destiny," these are the kind of games you find a way to win. You get outplayed, destroyed in the turnover game, but you win. I think our team would have lost this last year, I think something is going on with this team, and it is coming together beautifully.

Raise your hands if at the beginning of the year you thought we'd even be in the conversation for a NC this year.
I like many others thought next year would be the year.I figured 10 wins this year including the bowl. Everything after this win is gravy for me.

You must have a different definition than I do.

Ugh... I didn't say the game was beautiful. The teams progression from last season to this season is beautiful, wouldn't you agree? Less turnovers, great defense, etc... I'd say thats beautiful.

This reminds me of Chelsea's run through the champions league where they weren't the best team but they found a way to win. Notre dame seems destined to get to the championship game. Everything is going right for them this year. Love it

Going undefeated
Teo going to NYC but this week was a major setback

I love the National Championship conversation. Really, I do. But if there is one game to refocus this team, it's this one.

Notre Dame was simply outplayed for three quarters, and did everything to nearly hand them the game with plenty of missed opportunities. I say this less as a negative criticism, and more as a personal realization that this team is young. I knew they were young, but this game really showed it.

But man, do I love the determination of this team! I think if we keep focusing on one week at a time and keeping the turnovers down, good opportunities will open up at the end of the road.

Right now, it's definitely week to week, and that's mostly because of our youth at critical spots on the field.

GO ND!

$$$

ND in the NC will bring a massive amount of money.

I think money is the biggest thing ND has going for it now.

But could you imagine the circus if they are picked over an undefeated Oregon who has won much more convincingly? People would go ballistic

Money is why we have been picked for a lot of the bowls we have recently. We get picked for a bowl we don't deserve because we bring the money and then we get crushed. I am not saying this year but our recent past.

I think K State and Bama will drop games. Oregon is scary. I would not want to play them. I have no idea what we'll do. We'll probably go to OT against Wake, beat BC by 2, and house Southern Cal.

I think Manti's Heisman chances are over after this lackluster game, unless a handful of QBs really stink it up over the next few weeks. So not likely. But if we only drop one game, he'll still get the trip to NYC.

In some respects i think this game helped us with the voters. Of course, Oregon dismantling USC doesnt help us but the way we won that game i came away more impressed then if we won by 20 points.

All i have to say is that ND vs. BC will be the most watched college football game in the nation next week. That tells you somethig.

Im writing this as I watch USC vs. Oregon and while these teams look great giving up 30 points in a half and 400 yards of offense also isnt too impressive.

I must confess I had the same thoughts. I was hoping for some serious strides and a BCS Bowl. I always pull for the win. I am thrilled. Many think Holtz won a year ahead of schedule so maybe Kelly will as well. In my humble opinion, I really believe we will be even better next year. Here's hoping the teams we have already played win out and the ones we haven't played win all their games except against us.

K State pulling away from OkSt..

Bama' pulling away from LSU..

Oregon punching back on USCs every attempt to get back into it..

If those games continue to trend that way, our close win will surely hurt our chances. All ND can do is win and hope for some help.

Money doesn't matter AT ALL. All the bowl directors get to choose their teams EXCEPT in the NC game, which is basically decided by the voters and computers.

Fair or not... Both Oregon and Alabama have to win a conference championship game in addtion to finishing the "regular " season undefeated...all it takes is one loss to knock a team out of the NC race at this point. As long as the Irish stay undefeated it doesn't matter if they win ugly from here on out. Just like a Win is a Win... Undefeated is Undefeated. Each weekend there is a surprise (like we just witnessed), so I still feel like there is a likelyhood of ND playing in the NC.

Does a team that gives up 51 points and 620 yards on defense deserve to pass us?

as scary good as oregon's offense was today i think this game hurts them (or at least it should) in the eyes of voters.

Great teams don't concede 51 points and 620 yards of offense at least that's what our slogan should be.
