I agree that Manti has been integral in saving Notre Dame Football, I also agree that he will go down as the next great in Notre Dame Lore, his impact will be felt for years and he will be talked about for generations. What I find truly amazing and what we are only beginning to see is that the most profound impacts he has made were probably not done on Saturday afternoons. Although they have been really special too.

Manti would need a 12-0 Notre Dame, Geno Smith to have two "off" games, and still a few more amazing highlights.

Because he is a defensive player, he gets credit for the Stanford goal line stand. That is one amazing highlight (and even still tarnished for the short term because of the review). He needs a touchdown later in the year, or a sack that causes a fumble. We shall see. He does need more.

Most definitely agree. We only see him on Saturdays. There's probably hundreds of things he does around campus that we, as fans, never see and will most likely not even know about.

So does everyone.

Geno just lost and has a potential loss game this week. Braxton Miller doesn't play on a national stage enough, imo. Nor does he play solid competition which will hurt him.

What helps is that the contenders thus far are not playing for power-house programs (WVA, K-state, Ohio State)

We'd have to win out and Teo will have his chances to shine in Norman and at USC. The thing he has going for him is a ton of positive exposure for his play and also his character/tragedy. All of the previous heisman winners who do vote are noticing this.

Can he return punts?

On a serious note, helping ND achieve an 11-1 or 12-0 record a BCS berth will get Manti an easy invite to New York City. He needs to just continue what he is doing. Another pick or two, plus a big sack/fumble will certainly boost his numbers.

The PR campaign for Manti is going as well as it possibly can for Manti. Guys like Dennis Dodd of CBS and Jim Rome pumping up Manti only helps the national spotlight. Not to mention the article by the gentleman at Fox Sports.

He has the statement plays so far through 6 weeks and he has the biggest statement games that will only serve to skyrocket him.

He has the Michigan game and the Stanford goalline stand. Now, if he can do a typical Manti game that will help lead to victories at OU and at USC, now the spotlight will really be thrust upon him.

A couple de-cleaters that jar the ball out this season would help. Some highlight reel plays.

I agree that he needs to add some stats in particular areas but I was thinking, with all the hype around Te'o opposing skill players may be more cautious around him going forward and we all know playing scared leads to mistakes! It's just a theory but it could play a factor IMO. To clarify I mean RB's flinching and WR's short arming on pass catching opportunities.

Tears and no words...Manti is the ultimate role model and I think all of us can agree that the good Lord will bless him and allow for him to be a living testament for how we should live our lives...The wisdom that this young man has is outstanding...I wish while I was a student that I had talked to him more often!

I can only hope that my 2yr old son can be half the man that Manti is. Because he in bodies everything that people even my age or older that can achieve. Personally screw the heisman he deserve more than that and then some. This man will represent himself his family and school with honor and huble nature.

Can we get him a few goal line carries? Whether he wins the Heisman or not, my respect has gone up for him this year 100x.

I think the media train has gotten rolling early enough to help Manti, and the voters are getting the chance to hear what an amazing human being he is. I think with a 12-0 record, voters will be ready to set a precedent with this selection. It could revolutionize the significance of the Heisman trophy, and honestly, that award could use a shot of adrenaline, that award has lost its luster the last couple of years, IMO.
