Former NFL star Alex Karras dies

Former NFL star and actor Alex Karras died today at the age of 77 after years of health woes which his wife blamed on his long football career.

The former All-Pro defensive lineman and actor passed away at his home in Los Angeles surrounded by family.

A spokesman said he died 'after a heroic fight with kidney disease, heart disease, dementia and for the last two years, stomach cancer'.
