As I stated earlier I am thinking of sending Shirley Meyer a Thank you card.

How many losses do you think they will give him? I don't think very many of the same kind he had last saturday.

Do it. I think it would be hilarious.

This is great. Those people down in Gainesville are sick.

Its a little early for this. Florida Fans need to wake up, for god sakes your Florida! Your a nice little program, but lets be real, I think you have one National Championship. Its harder to return to glory, when you've never been there. Go Irish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The funniest part is Florida has never been good with anybody other than Spurrier! To me, that's like Texas Tech demanding their coach be fired.

This is a little extreme. Fans are too much these days. Once one thing bad happens they take it upon themselves to head hunt or even throw things at the football games on to the field of play.

It wouldnt surprise me if some idiot started fireweis.com. Some fans think too highly of their role in an organization.

Actually as sad as it is...I would say this is no joke. Urban will have at the max two years including this one to install his program and if he loses big to LSU, or Georgia it wont be good. And if he loses to them both big...watch out.

Obviously, I could be entirely wrong about this but I believe their is not one single Gator fan that is not still comparing anyone that coaches at Florida to Spurrier.

Meyer's offense hasn't been very impressive against Tennesse and Alabama. The SEC players are so fast, I think they'll be able to stop his offense. Urban's offense would've been a better fit in the Big Ten. He should've waited around for the Michigan or Penn State job to open up.

I thought Urban would do great at Florida right away, maybe he's not as great as everyone thought. Still need to give him some more time though.

Are you kidding? JoePa will be coaching Penn State on his death bed 15 years from now and Urban can't wait that long. Just the same, I can't say I was sad to see him lose. I'm just spiteful I guess.

You are right, the only way Joepa is leaving the PSU sideline is in a coffin. The Jury is still out on Urban. He is in the Big Leagues now. Big step up in size, speed and gameplanning in the SEC compared to the Mountain West.

His offense revolves around the quarterback. He has a dropback passer in Chris Leak running the crazy razzle dazzle offense that Alex Smith was running. Leak is not a runner.

Urban brought Josh Harris to Gainesville when Harris committed to him at Utah. Urban will recruit well, no doubt. Once he gets his own people in place, look out. He doesn't have that now.

Jigga, While I agree with you to a certain extent. I wonder if he will have that much time. I do think he will be more effective but I am not sure about as affective as he was at Utah.

That's the issue Batch. Will they give him 3 years? 4 ? 5?

Bowling Green and Utah are two completely different worlds compared to where he is now. I was a bit taken back by the fact that a Midwestern guy took that job down there.

In regards to him waiting it out to take the UM or PSU job, I don't think that was a viable choice for him. He was a hot commodity NOW and made the jump at the right time. Using ND as leverage was a sneaky, rotten and low thing to do, but it worked. Business is business. How one does business is totally up to him.

Bobby Petrino will be at Michigan soon. If UM loses 4 or 5 this year, expect it. As for Penn State, the fact that they're 2/3 away from a bowl game means Paterno has bought himself some time. A couple of years ago, I heard Jim Haslett's name mentioned for this job. Not sure why. Anyone know of a connection there?

I can't believe someone seriously made this site already. I mean, come on, has it really gotten that bad in college football today? One loss and you're done??? geez...

I think one of the biggest things Meyer has going against him is his name. If he struggles early, he has one of the worst names I've ever heard for razzing. Urban Legend, Sub-Urban, Oscar Meyer, the list goes on...lol...

Totally agree. College football is going to get heavy doses of us, Florida, and the Trojans in the coming years.

Meyer isn't playing the same competition that he was at BG and Utah. The defenses are much better, more complex and faster. Also, the coaching he is now competing against is at least a full level higher and maybe 2 levels. He'll still do well, but won't have the same success that he has had previously.

ND made the right choice in hiring Charlie and his great coaching staff!!!

There are some rumblings about SC as of late that lead me to believe word will get out about what they're really doing over there.

They hounded Aldridge until he politely told them "my mind is made up." They badgered Darrin Walls the other day on the phone to the point that his father had to intervene. As we all know, they hung Mike Williams out to dry.

The staff seems to do right by THEMSELVES and not the players. They persaude players to stay rather than go pro even though the kids are ready. When Nick Saban made that SC kid cry with the Dolphins, that was no mistake. Carroll is a players coach, aka once they get to a cold city in the NFL with a tough coach, will they be ready?

No one is going to blow Southern California sunshine up their candy @sses.

Without Question the right choice was C-Dub. The amazing thing is that Kevin White couldn't see this until he was dumped by Urban and then the many other coaches. Weis should have been choice #1. Call this Divine Intervention. Kevin is a good "Olympic Sports" AD, but clueless in the hardball game of College Football and College Hoops.

White is not my favorite AD. He tries to be too political and is more of a "Mr. Corporate" image than a real AD. We need a strong guy in that position. I bet weis walks all over him. Relative to the football program, all White has done is make a complete mess of things. Obviously he was a Malloy hire and followed the Malloy path of mediocrity. Now that Jenkins has the reins, I wouldn't be surprised to see White either leave on his own volition or be fired by Jenkins. White seems to have to do everything by committee and that means he doesn't have the authority to make decisions on his own, probablyt because of all the foul-ups he has had in the past. If that's really the case, we should get someone who can do the AD job that he was hired to do.

I think Petrino has lost some of his luster. Sure, he has rolled over the cupcakes but his Louisville team has struggled (and been beat) when playing medicore to solid competition.

I don't think Michigan makes a switch unless they get a big time guy in there to replace Carr... someone that has made it to the big game before.

I think UM would need a younger, fresher guy to get into the mix. Good recruiter would be a must. Any one of the SC assistants would do.

Urban is going to have to work hard to get that offense to be effective in the SEC. There is too much speed on defense down there for that kind of football. That and it has been on film enough now for D coordinators to pick it apart. Worst thing about innovative ideas...the more you use them, the more they get taped and allow coaches innovative ways to stop you.

Another ND fansite must have bought the rights to firecharlieweis.com, and firecoachweis.com, when I put them in my browser, I got that rather than some moron wanting to fire CW.
