Steve Brown: Could ND sneak back in and get him?

With the way Michigan has played, I'm a bit curious to see if Notre Dame could open Steve Brown back up and steal him away from Michigan.

Nothing is official until that first Tuesday in Feburary.

A verbal is just that. A verbal.

But it's supply and demand. 17 down, 8 to go. Kates and Walls could be 18 and 19 for all we know. 4 more linemen make 23.

ND has already snagged 2 safeties and Sergio Brown is pending.

As we've seen with the recruit game, anything can and will happen.

I do not think the kid has the grades to make it anyplace else but michigan and down the black hole. You guys got to forget the muscle, talent speed and look at the GPA. NCAA is closing down on moron atletes

The only visit he has taken was to ND for the MSU game and he thought about committing. To my knowledge, he hasn't gone anywhere else yet.

Not sure when his other visits will be. I know Illinois and Nebraska were on his list. With 17 verbals in hand, he'd better hurry. Walls and Kates could make 19, plus 3-4 more linemen. ND still needs another receiver or two....these guys better get rolling.

I like him better than both Gaines and Gordon. Brown has a bit more size and speed. Just a better all around package. Something tells me Gaines and/or Gordon could end up in the Apache spot at some point. I think Brown has the skill and size to play corner.

He is taking other visits. So is Demetrius Jones.

This puts a twist on Darrin Walls' announcement Monday.

The sale isn't done until Signing Day. These 18 verbals are going to have coaches in their ear until February.

Brown is a good catch. Walls would be even better but either of these guys could wind up on the offense side of the team. They are both super athletes.

There is mention of Brown's GPA. Is it that suspect? I can't believe Weis would recruit this guy so hard if there was any question of his grades.

Anyhow, we need a few more big linemen and a linebacker or two to round out this class. I can't believe the difference a year makes especially since these guys really don't know Weis. He must be some salesman!

I can't get too excited about Steve Brown. He is a great football player but if he had any desire to come to ND he certainly had the chance. If I were Weis I would say so long and good luck to Brown and any one else who gives a verbal to another school. There are too many great athletes out there who would die to get an offer from ND. Let's concentrate on the ones who are still available and forget the others

My experience tells me that the ones who are not sure about ND should be going some place else

Three more o linemen, another corner, a couple of receivers, a couple of linebackers and a couple of defensive tackles. There are some needs that are out there. But now it seems to be first come, first served.

Maybe Jason Kates will finally clear up his status once and for all?

Yeah, actually heard that on the Gridiron Digest show on the drive home yesterday. I think his team is still like 7-0 and a state favorite to make it to the championship game.

With Parris already hurt, the health of the other 18 men becomes a key issue. That and that no one steals them away. A verbal is only a verbal. But injury is far worse.
