I have a friend who's birthday is coming up, and for the past couple years we have been looking for an old school (or reproduction, or new) fight bell.

You know, like in a boxing match... Ding..Ding...

I will spare you the dorkyness that makes this a great gift, but sufficed to say this is exactly what he wants. The problem is, the only ones I have found are either very historic (read prohibitively expensive) or just poor examples of what we're looking for.

Maybe some of you have some boxing history or are just better at the internet than I am, but I would sure appreciate any help in finding one .

EDIT!!:

Alright... I won't spare you the dorkyness!

We're both huge fans of the band Phish. The bass player has a fight bell that he (only once in a while) hits with his foot, and when he does... the funk is on. See the embeded video.

If this was a thread finding the perfect gift for your girlfriend/wife, then as the lone female poster I would feel obligated to help you out.

Seeing, however, as that is not the case, I will let the multitude of men chime in.

There are several female posters here now.

I really appreciate the responses.

Edge: That boxing supply store has one for sure, but it's a little too 'new' looking.

Domer: I hadn't seen that one since my last search... could seriously be a winner right there, well found and thanks.

If you can't find your bell, I've got a old "tin cup" that hasn't been used in years. Just sitting in the bottom of a dresser draw. It doesn't have that "new look". Comes with dents on both sides.

You could have it bronzed but it might get a tad expensive, it's a large. You'll have to supply your own clapper though I'm kind of attached to the one it used to have.

It's funny that this thread came up. I was watching Pawn Stars tonight and one of the items that came into the shop was a boxing ring bell with a fake Sonny Liston Sig on it, but the bell was for real. Head on out to Las Vegas and it can be yours for 600 clams. :)
