Michigan State (2-0, 0-0 Big Ten) at No. 10 Notre Dame (2-0)
2:30 p.m. EST, NBC

South Bend, Ind. - Notre Dame Stadium
Series: Notre Dame leads 43-24-1

Last Meeting - 2004: Notre Dame 31, Michigan State 24

After two lopsided victories, Michigan State is taking its dizzying statistics on the road to face No. 10 Notre Dame. The Spartans have faced two unranked opponents on the way to raking up the nation's second-best total offense with an average of 592 yards per game. The Spartans are ready to gauge their game in the national spotlight the Irish have been soaking up this season.

Although the Irish began the year unranked, they earned top-10 status with road wins over then-No. 23 Pittsburgh and then-No. 3 Michigan. Notre Dame enters its first home game of the season against a team that hasn't lost at Notre Dame Stadium in more than a decade. Michigan State has won six of the past eight meetings overall.

Quarterback Drew Stanton leads the Spartans offense with the nation's fourth-best passing efficiency rating, and running back Jehuu Culcrick ranks 17th in the country with 114.5 rushing yards per game. Freshman running back Javon Ringer also ran for 80 yards and three touchdowns in the Spartans win against Hawaii. Their Irish counterparts, QB Brady Quinn and running back Darius Walker, return from the Notre Dame team that topped Michigan State last season. Quinn has completed 65 percent of his passes and tossed a pair of first-half touchdowns in the win against Michigan. The biggest test to the Spartan's defense will be Walker, who is averaging 102 yards per game. On the other side of the ball, the Irish defense has been ironfisted, unnerving Michigan QB Chad Henne for a 19-of-44 performance and breaking down the Wolverine offense with a decisive fumble and interception.

I think I'd pay Weis a couple grand to bench Richardson. He cannot stay within 5-10 yards of any receiver he defends. If I was an opposing QB, I'd go his way ALL day.

What kind of nuts does Weis have? Going for it TWICE on 4th with one being 4th and 15... and we got 7 outta it.

7-7 game.

Damn I love me some Weis.

Hellen's touchdown catch... compare and contrast.

Irish Fan: "Looks like he caught it... I'm glad he's okay after that hit."

Michigan Fan: "Man, we would've won if the refs hadn't given Hellen that gift. He dropped it, plain as day!"

Wow, that was an UGLY first quarter. We needed a desperation heave on 4th-and-15 just to show a spark of life on offense. Quinn and Walker need to settle down and step it up. This is turning into a shootout, and we can't afford to waste possessions.

Wow, these refs are flag-happy today, on both sides.

Yeah, these penalties are really going to kill the Irish. Thank God for Quinn having a nice eye today. Walker is MIA.

Great strip... but what's with the razzle-dazzle flea-flicker? Just 'cause MSU tries that stuff doesn't mean we have to also. Looks pretty when it works, but it rarely works.

Would have been 7 if Quinn threw it even in Stovalls direction. It is a momentum shock and awe type of play.

Smarj does it again... and Quinn's certainly settling down now. Feels good to be back in the lead.

Our secondary is so damn disappointing. This wouldn't even be a game if we had capable corners.

Better settle down at half, or we might be on the wrong side of a blowout!

Well, 24-17 at the half. With as good as MSU has played, I think it is pretty nice we're only down 7 because we have NO running game established. Lets hope that defensive line is tired in the 2nd and Darius can get involved.

Is it just me or does Walker look like Barry Sanders in slow mo?

Today he is... He is trying to force "it" if you will... he keeps stopping when he needs to just go North and South.

well, now its 31-17. ya know i dont demand that we win every game, but i do expect a quarterback to make the throws he is supposed to make. Quinn missed open receivers last week and he has done it again today. I dont know if we are playing like shit or we are just getting beat by a good team. Charlie has to come through....

The offense put up 17 first half points so there not all to blame, the defense has been awful.

I thought so too. But it was still a stupid move, on fourth down ok, but on first down, hold on to the ball!

I'm afraid to say it, this game is over if they don't get any points on this drive, and it has to be a TD.
