That is the web address for Mitch Mustain. He's on the same team as Bart Webb. Mitch is considered by many to be the top QB in the Nation. His final three teams include ND, Miami, and Arkansas.
It would be nice to land this kid, not only because he's a heck of a QB, but it would drastically increase ND's presence in the south. We all know that the south has much talent.
My only problem is that I have developed a soft spot for Zach Frazer and I would hate to see him lose out. Of all the positions in football, QB is the one where there is only one guy that sees the field often.

C-Dub has said it before and I'll say it again, he wants to recruit 2 QBs in EVERY class

and we'll get two QBs. but bringing in two that are both the caliber of frazer and mustain would be very, very (one more time) very difficult for any coach in the country. we'll get another solid recruit at QB.

frankly, the QB position is the least of my worries at this point.

The thing that worries me the most is our DB/LB/OL recruiting in that order.

DB and O-Line are major concerns. As Irish fans, be prepared to see lots of freshmen on the field in those spots in 2006...or if things go horribly wrong, a bunch of intramural guys from the dorms.

Any OT, OG or Center will have to know he will get IMMEDIATE playing time on the O-Line as a freshman. Four year starter = NFL draft choice.

This stuff sells itself.

As for Mustain, if he goes Irish it will not work out. Either he or Frazer will end up transferring. Weis wants the 2 QBs per class, but one guy will have to be a stud and the other will have to be a 3 star, Mike Hartline type.

With Frazer in had, don't expect Mustain or Demetrius Jones. But at this point, anything is possible.

Hartline is a Wisconsin lean. ND has not offered him. He is open to coming to ND as the second QB, but he doesn't have an offer and he wants to decide soon.

Noted. The second QB will have to be a guy of Hartline's caliber if a Mustain or Frazer is already on board.

Hartline would be in with an offer. Clearly ND is holding out for Jones or Mustain.

Mustain is the real deal... You should see him play... Just amazing... He is very accurate and can throw a great long ball..... Has ND been looking at any wide receivers?? Maybe they should take a look at Andrew Norman also from..... you guessed it... Springdale, Ar. He catches everything that is thrown at him.... His stats may not stand out, but that is only because Springdale beats teams by so much the starters only get to play about one half of football a game.... The Irish should really take a look at this guy...

This is why i love Weis' recruiting style. He's not content with bringing in one stud QB and one average one. He wants two. Hartline may be good, but I don't see him contributing for a couple of years. besides Quinn all we have is Sharpley. Maybe Weis isn't crazy about Sharpley.

All I've read and seen posted on various stories/sites is that Weis isn't hip on Sharpley. No doubt this was the previous staff's guy.

Since Webb's commit, I've been reading Mustain could be verballing this week. He would like to get it out of the way before the season starts. Not sure if it is ND or Texas or somewhere else. Rivals says an announcement should be relatively soon.

Mustain's website has been down for a couple of days now. Maybe he has made a decision and doesn't want anymore people dropping him a letter begging him to come to their school.

I just read a post on another board that his high school coach wants it done by August 23rd so it isnt a distraction for his team competing for a state championship.

If true that puts the window at 2 more weeks...It will be interesting to see where he goes. And if he announces on National TV that he has chosen Notre Dame...oh my!

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I dont think Frazer did many camps this summer because of an injury to his foot. I wish he would have been able to compete this summer. I am pretty high on Frazer, he is a bit bigger than Mustain and he comes from PA which is pretty high caliber HS football at pretty much any class, I think it would have been interesting to see those two go head to head.

I may have a chance to get out to Mechanicsburg this fall and if I do I am definately going to see him play.

Mustain can do just about everything. Can make all the throws, makes good reads, has accuracy, touch, etc.

I know Frazer put up some big numbers, but Mustain is a bit more refined...or so they say.

I'd love to have both. Mustain-Frazer beats Frazer-Jones any day.

Frazer did the EA Elite 11. He qualified by his performance in Las Vegas shortly after his foot injury....they said he did well (well enough to get invited to the one July 23-27th in So. Cal.)

Has anyone heard how he did there??? EA doesn't have any updates on their website.

Gus Malzahn, (Springdale's Head Coach) wants the decision made by the 23 of August or not made until the end of the season. He doesn't want any distractions for the team as the head for the state championship, undefeated.

Don't know if that is confidence or arrogance, but I understand where he is coming from and I like it. Sounds like you've got a Weis guy down there.

Mustain and Jones could have decisions made by the end of the month. Jones was at ND yesterday.

The QB recruiting at ND is probably the most interesting story outside of the Weis Era beginning this week with practice.

Mustain verballing to ND will shake things up quite a bit.

I hope that Frazer sees it as a challenge and doesnt change his mind about ND, if Mustain does commit. If Mustain does commit to any other school besides Ark I cant imagine the harrasment he is going to get down there being only 15 minutes away from that campus.

Even though I have read that Mustain is very honest and level headed I would be worried about him changing his mind over the course of the next several months because of that pressure.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: a verbal is just that. A verbal agreement.

The dust settles on Signing Day.

Hopefully ND wins on the field and draws more attention to the program. With depth being the way it is right now, these kids have to know they're going to play early and often.

Well the going to the state championship undefeated is what I am saying.... Not what the coach has said. It is all confidence.

Down to two schools??

Down to two schools??

I just read an article that states Mustain is down to two schools. While it didnt come right out and say that he had scratched Miami off of his list it didnt mention them either.

Speculation has it that Mustain will choose between Arkansas and Notre Dame on ESPN possibly as early as this week while Norman will likely go to Arkansas if Mustain does and possibly Louisville if he doesn’t.

The article is actually about why they might not choose Arkansas. Here is the link if interested.

I hate to keep spamming this thread but I just read this on scout.com

Springdale quarterback Mitch Mustain says his decision is coming more into focus and will definitely be made before his 2005 season gets underway.
