Just to take up the kids as they have never been. Have a 9 year old that is smart as all get out and would like to give him some more motivation.

Can anyone recommend any kid-friendly activities?

I can't wait to take my boys but I've got time to prepare, my son Spencer is 2 and my other son won't be born until December. Spencer already has his ND jersey and pants for the upcoming season and when I show him the leprechaun he says "Idish" and puts his number one finger in the air! ; )

There is little reason to go to ND outside of seeing ND, and doing ND stuff like a campus tour and mass at the Basilica. Maybe the CFHOF would work in a pinch. Maybe a baseball game with the Silver Hawks at Covaleski Stadium.

I do think they have a Studebaker museum, but I've never been to it. If they've got cars there, that could be pretty cool.

You could visit the local zoo. Probably a couple of emaciated deer you could feed.

Remember when the zoo had those walabies, and they got eaten by a pack of wild dogs that broke into the zoo? It was such a big deal in the South Bend Tribune to have those stupid little Australian rodents, and within a week they were all dead or seriously maimed by a bunch of roving mutts.

Hilarious. Yea, when you can see the ribs on the animals and big patches of hair missing you know the zoo needs some serious funding. Funny thing is, up there in the Bend the Potowatomi zoo is the shizzle. Its about as popular as the St. Patricks "Logan Nose On".

Well, we were hoping to keep a car ride to 3-4 hours or under. Considering we're in Indianapolis, it doesn't give us many options.

I just got back from taking my girls for a week to ND. You can stay at St. Edwards hall if you like. They have bikes you can ride and a kids room. I took my girls to the Basilica every evening for prayers. I also took them to the "Rock" to go swimming. I have a nice black and blue mark from trying to splash off the high dive. I weigh a lot more than I used to and got a lot more spring off the board than the last time I was on one.

My girls were in soccer day camp so I would wander around or watch them while they were in camp. I strolled in through a back door of the Joyce center and got to some areas I don't think I was supposed to be in. Ended up in the football dept! Take them to the second floor in there and they can see all the Heisman's and Sears Trophy along with things from all the other sports the University has excelled in. I ran into Charlie Weis no less than 4 times. Met most of the starters just strolling around. It's difficult to get into the Gug but if you hang out at the stadium by the tunnel all the players walk through that gate at some point during the day.

I got to talking with one of the groundskeepers that had been there for 22 years. Really a nice guy. He gave me his name and told me to stop by gate 8 at the stadium and he would give me a tour of the inside, places nobody else gets to see. I think I will take him up on that when I go up for some games.
