Wow! Weis definitely can recruit. Wonder where ND would rank at this point if Willingham was here? Let's just hope most these guys sign come Feb.

I'd rather not think about it, to be quite honest. The road is in front.

If they can stay in the top five, I'd be thrilled. The fact is, USC and Florida State always get 11th hour guys in February that propel them into the mix.

There are still plenty of guys ND can get at this point. If they manage to get half of them, they'll be set.

i've said it before...once you get into the top ten of the recruiting classes, it's entirely subjective as to who is really bringing in better talent. i don't care if we're number 2 or 10....we're already light years ahead of where we were last february.

jig is right, the florida teams always tend to pull out some magic in the last hour and sneak in to get some people. I think though that we will be in good shape this year. How many days until we take it to Pitt, like 38? 37?

Not soon enough. Damn I wish it were September.

Can we just skip August... nothing really good happens in that month anyway.

Chicago baseball takes a dive, Houston Astros charge into the playoffs...ditto Oakland.

Bears get a ton of guys hurt in camp, Drew Rosenhaus clients hold out, rookies that haven't played a down hold out for millions.

Yeah, August sucks.

Cubs - Completely Uselessly By September

But I've got little room to talk being a Mets fan.

Accurately ranking recruiting classes after signing day is at best tenous. Trying to do it before the start of the season is just plain silly. Rankings are made simply as means to justify someone's employment. Rivals and Lemmings et al have to fill space with something. And since there is nothing truly meaniful to print, pages get filled with predictions.

These kids don't even know who they're going to take to the prom, and that choice will likely change three or four times.

Don't count chickens before they hatch. And even after they hatch, not every chicken is worth his keep. The world is full of 'can't miss' recruits that missed by a mile.

Guff is right about the Cubs. Also right about recruiting.

Nothing is certain until you get the signed letter of intent. A verbal is a verbal. It is not binding. Munir Prince, anyone?

Once they get to campus, will they fit? Academics, the system, strength conditioning, work ethic, etc. You just never know.

But everything looks positive at this moment.

How about Georgia - they are headed for a real good class.

Yeah. I noticed their crop as well. Mark Richt gets 'er done. Was the strength behind FSU all of those years.

Every guy Michigan has is four stars or more. Impressive.

Yeah, and Coach Karr still cannot beat us at our house or beat Ohio State in Columbus. He still does not trust his own players in big spots.

Something about Lloyd Carr...he's a whiner and he's a bit of a jerk towards the TV/print people. I'm not sure what it is that draws people to Michigan. There are younger coaches out there that are much better to play for.
