Ok, I have to say it, i know some of you have been thinking about it. May is the evaluation period, and Coach is visiting over 100 high schools personally, we already have 6 great recruits, HOWEVER, i wonder why we havent had the "snowball effect" that many people including myself thought we would have.

Maybe it is still to early, but with the best QB and best RB in the class, where are the commitments from top OL, or WR's? It has been 2 weeks since our last committment, and coach is in the kids high schools. I KNOW I KNOW Coach Weis DOES know much more than i do, I know i know, it still is May and we DO have 6 great kids, BUT where is the snowball effect?

PS. I do not want to hear any responses with the word "patients" in it. I have been plenty patient for over a decade.

i think its been because the kids are close to getting out for summer and taking some time off from everything. they probably just want to be kids for a while before hitting the weight room really hard over the summer. you have to remember how big summer was in high school, the parties and stuff when school was letting out. i beleive a snowball effect will happen, the kids just want some time to vent off some steam.

It could also be that those commits came during spring ball. Now that spring ball is over the recruits do not get to see the team on the field practicing and see the team in action during the spring game.

Once summer picks up and practice starts back up the commits will start to pick back up.

Right now the prospects are going off of Weis' word and not able to see the team on the field during the visits.

And as much as I think ND is going to come back big this coming year the fact is that ND is a .500 team until proven other wise.

I think once summer ball and the season starts we continue landing big commits.

You have to remember we have won nothing yet and coming off of two bad years a lot of recruits are in a wait and see mode.Ty's big year came during his 10-2 season.Last year we didn't have one recruit until june.So you need to have (that word you don't want to hear).Weis is worlds ahead of what ty was in recruiting and is out working other coaches. If you look at other major programs they don't have a lot of players verbals yet(except texas).Just wait until our camp I am sure we will pick a few more.I also believe D.Jones is a silent vebal.

Relax. It's May for Pete's sake.

Recruiting has improved ten fold from year ago.

Guff brings up a great point. Weis is recruiting JUNIORS right now and already has six. Not even Memorial Day yet.

You'll get your verbals this summer and some in the fall. However, when you have names on the dotted line in February of 2006, then and only then will I feel good about the recruiting class.

I think it is important to point out (in addition to all the above) that C-Dub is not losing any recruits that he really is focused on. This is a key sign because in past years top recruits seemed to pay lip service to TY and make decisions to go elsewhere early.

If they get Cumbie and Schmidt this week, your statement will be backed up even more. But a good point. They've gotten everyone they've wanted to this point. I"m sure they'll lose a guy here or there, but who knows? In sales, the first no doesn't mean anything. Usually, the first dozen don't either.

Weis is a salesman. Latina and Ianello are as well. They're going to get the guys they're after, one at a time.

Brick by brick, my friends. Brick by brick....
