Irish coach Charlie Weis received his first commitment of the 2005 season. Irish Eyes just spoke with running back Munir Prince, and the 5-10, 175-pound speedster committed to Weis at today's junior day

also according to bgi Barry Gallup may soon commit as well

unreal, Prince is a great get, he had some great offers, Gallup looks nice too, he told his mom to frame his ND offer, so I figured he'd commit to ND even though his Pops played for BC.

Paddy Mullen (Munir's teammate) will commit soon too I imagine. It's so early and we already have guys committing, With Ty as coach, you wouldn't have guys commit until September.

Were back BABY! Top 5 class this year, I can feel it....

Luke Schmidt, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound running back from Indiana received an offer today at Junior Day.

haven't heard anything about this guy, but i like the size....

Little info on Luke

The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder was the leading rusher in Indiana as a junior, carrying 328 times for 2,592 yards — an average of 216 per game — and 41 touchdowns.

Also has 4.6 speed. Has 5 offers, including offers from illinois,Iowa, ND

I read that Munir has a 4.4 GPA, the school uses a 5.0 scale. I never seen this before.

Paddy goes to the same school as Munir and has a 2.5 GPA, so on a 4.0 scale would his GPA be a 1.5

Aldridge(rivals top 100 player) looks like he's headed to ND too, along with Paddy, and Gallup. Gallup may commit real soon. As long as Paddy gets his grades up he'll be irish for sure. Unreal.....

Munir is trying to persuade James Aldridge to follow suit. He thinks Aldridge will commit after he checks things out at Oklahoma State.

When was the last time you saw recruits trying to recruit for ND like this?

Didn't Prince give a verbal to Iowa? Awesome. Ferentz and his staff are going to feel the backlash of Charlie Weis' hiring more than any staff in the country. Book it.

ND lost all those guys in February to Iowa. This one feels good.

I live in Jasper so I have had the chance to watch Luke play a bit. He is a good runner in a really run happy offense. Early in his high school career he did not enjoy contact. But this year as a junior he really used his size to his advantage and leveled some people. He has decent speed 4.6 and great strength, he was a workhorse this year. I believe that he is still growing and might even evolve into a tight end prospect? As of now I think Charlie really likes him as a fullback primarily. I know talking with some of his family that Louisville is recruiting him as a tailback only and that interests him quite a bit? Word is Michigan is going to offer as well but only as a fullback. I guess we will see? I will give some updates as the season starts up again.

Thanks for the info Lampy, I didn't know anything about Luke. Seems to be alot of talent from Indiana this year.

Prince is a 5 star player on emfinger, rated as the 2nd or 3rd best all purpose back, Lemming likes him as well, but projects him as a corner in college. Iowa offered him when he was only a sophomore. When rivals comes out with the star rankings he'll probably be a 4 star guy.

But who cares about stars when you run a 4.3 40....

Amen tp that! 4.3 in the 40 yard dash is blistering! Hell Rocket ran a 4.29 :)

At 5-10, 175 all they need to do is stick #25 on this guy and he'll BE the Rocket. ND could use the speed on special teams returns.

Calling some high school Jr. 'Rocket' is a little premature..no? I'd like to see the guy in an ND uniform before I make such optimistic predictions.

Speed is nice. But a FOOTBALL PLAYER with speed is even better. Let's hope he's that.

True enough, and we all know that Charlie's motto as well, so if he felt comfortable offering this kid so early I feel pretty comfortable trusting him that this kid can really play in pads & isn't just a track star. We'll see though, I guess.

I guess he hits the outside and he's gone. But he also hits the holes in between the tackles and takes off like a bat outta hell. The shifty little guys are often successful in the right systems.

It all depends on what happens this year. If Walker is a stud running back this year and Thomas steps up as a good #2 back, he will be red-shirted his Freshman year.

If Walker is average this year, he will compete right away!

I was reading about him last night and I kept picturing Warrick Dunn. Man, we could only wish.

I think it might be smart to red-shirt him since he's so small. Give him a year to bulk up. They still have Hoskins to back up Walker, and I think Walker will have a good year in his own right

Once again, Aerosmith hits one outta the yard.

At 175, I'd like to see at least 10 pounds added to his frame. He'd probably need more than that. Walker and Hoskins will be able to "GET 'ER DONE." Hoskins needs to get some reps and touches this year.
