Thats a classic joke Tim. I thought only females (um sorry for this comment) were the ones who took that long between contacing about 15 of their friends before a decision is made lol.

i know there has been no final word on this, but has anybody heard any strong rumors lately on his hopefully soon-to-be decision?

He said-point blank-he is not considering ND anymore. It is really a question of USC (football), Stanford (academics), or Berkeley (little of both).

This class was strictly damage control. The Ty firing and Weis Super Bowl run were very major factors in getting only 15 players. Other than Hord, who else really stands out? Going up against USC for any top prospects...well, I hope no one was holding their breath.
Weis will now be able to get a jump on the juniors and get things rolling for the 2006 kids. He has already gotten in touch with Demetrius Jones of Morgan Park in Chicago. This kid is a flat out stud and could replace Quinn when he graduates. Weis has also recommitted to getting back into the Chicago area, something that Willingham and his staff lost track of after Holtz and Davie. Let these guys play games this year. There won't be any excuses a year from now. Weis will go where he has to and have nothing holding him back.

I saw that in a old story but i had seen in a newer story that he was considering ND and Stanford - did he rule out ND again?

No one really knows where this kid is going. Even his parents don't have a clue (although his mom made it sound like he was considering only 2 schools, which his father later dismissed and said all schools are still in the running).

If we get him great if not thats fine, I'm pretty happy with the kids we got. All but 2 (Schapp, Quinn) are nationally ranked at there positions. Thats very good, there certainly is quality there. It's not like a bunch of these kids a 2 star players, Weis did a great job not piling up on 2 star players just to fill up the class. Next year we should be able to bring in the max 25 scholarships, or close to it. This years class was better then last years class, which had too many 2 star players (5 2 star guys i think) Ty was just trying to load up on a class which you should never do. He did the same thing at Washington, he got 13 commits in, in a year when Washington had only 14 scholarships to offer, there was no reason Ty needed 13 commits, he took a bunch of nobody recruits, when he should of brought in maybe 8 kids, and load up next year, when he has a year under his belt to recruit.

Weis has already contacted close to 50 chicago 2006 prospects. Nexts years class will be great.

Scout.com rated 5 of our 15 with 4 stars and 9 with 3 stars, Tom Lemming has Hilben at 10 for TE's, Duncan and Turkovich are both in the top 30 for OT, Rivals has Sharpley at 12 for QB's, plus Hord. This isn't a bad class, Ty signed 17 last year 6 of which were 2 star players. We are moving in the right direction, but it takes time.

Only time will tell with this new staff. Weis has the ship headed in the right direction, but we must keep ourselves on course. If we do have a top 10 class next year, let us just hope we have a top 10 class for the next 10 years.

BTW....Did anyone notice the adjustments Weis made during the Super Bowl with 7 minutes left in the First Half.......My goodness!!!! Weis is the :censored: MAN!!!!

Adjustments? What are ad-just-ments? I've never heard of such a thing. At Notre Dame, if it doesn't work in the first half, well we just keep doing it all through the second half b/c its BOUND to work eventually, right? What a novell concept....

lol But back on topic. Has anyone heard anything about Lorig? Or do we have to wait for the next millenium for him to make up his mind?

Why do you care? This is the problem with following recruiting too closely: In the end, he's a normal highschool kid who's just picking a college. In fact, he has been less concerned with the bling-bling of the process than any recruit I've seen in a while.

But he has said he has not coming to ND several times now.

Thats a shame, but exactly what I suspected. Guess he didn't feel it when he was on campus. It's okay, I'm sure he'll do fine wherever he goes.

Hey yall dont get despaired - on Scout and Rivals they have quotes from his father saying all four schools are still in the running. Lorig has changed his mind a few times saying ND was out then putting ND back in, etc. I would say USC is out for Lorig and down to Stanford, Cal, & ND. Of the 3 i think cal will get the next cut. In the end i think ND will win because i think Weis uses more TE than Harris??

Don't they have enough tight ends anyway?

ND was recruiting him as a DE. It doesn't matter though I've read his quote where he says ND is out.

It's down to Cal and UCLA, both schools his parents went to.

But he was impressed with ND and the coaching staff.

So this guy still hasnt committed to any school?

Anyone have any insight on what the situation is and if we still have a shot at getting him?
