I think its a 2 team race for wilson. OSU and ND.

Notre Dame has an in-house meeting set up with Wilson next Wednesday.

My opinion is OSU is the leader, but its obvisios ND has made up alot of ground.

It's down to O$U and ND for Lawrence Wilson.

His father, Eugene, said this weekend that it's down to Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Florida. However, Florida is a distant third because he said Florida is far away and he's seen his son play his entire life and doesn't want to stop now.

Florida is visiting him Tuesday, Notre Dame on Wednesday, and Ohio State Friday, with a decision coming this weekend.

This is an insiders aticle that it is down to two - i guess the bucks and the irish really i found on one of the suck nd boards online some1 said.

"Is it really coach weis recruiting? No. All he is doing is passing around ND tradition books(I assume he means about the ND football team's Championships, about Knute Rockne, etc.) to his recruits and hope they fall for the trap"

I think even so that is progress from Willingham and Davie who would use the ND name and tradition to hover over any recruits.

If that is the case, what do they pass around at OSU?

Mike Haywood, Jappy Oliver, and Bernie Parmalee visited Wilson today(Weis met with Wilson a few weekes ago). Urban Legend isn't giving up on Wilson he visited LW earler in the day. O$U visits with LW tomorrow, his decision will be coming over the weekend. LW's parents came away impressed with ND today..No mention of Florida.

His decision MIGHT be televised Sunday on ESPN.

OT: It is interesting that they sent the black coaches, isn't it? I actually like this, because it is an obvious attempt to counter the racist allegations attributed to ND by the media. I particularly like Haywood because he is an alum with a genuine love of the school.

Honestly, it would be great for Haywood to park his rear end in South Bend for a good eight years or so and absorb everything Cutcliffe and Weis have to show him (and Lewis and Minter). Maybe leave for a few years to be a head coach somewhere, and then come back to ND as our head coach (if he is proven to be successful). I love the idea of our coach being an alum, but after that media hatchet job, I also love the idea that a guy like Haywood is out there correcting some misconceptions.

I dont think i want another black head coach until there are more in D-1. I dont have anything against them but i dont want to be put on the spot if he starts running down our program. Also although i like Haywood I would like Tom Clements to coach us first!

OT: Unfortunately, the media barage on ND has contributed to this sort of thinking, as it also has in the business world. In other words: Why hire a black man you can't fire under threat of a media assualt when you could fire a white man without incident?

I, too, would be afraid to hire another black coach after the crap ESPN pulled.

That having been said, I hope Haywood is successful, and I do think it would be great to have him as coach someday. I do like the idea of alumni coaches, but Clements is already older than Weis. If Weis is around for even a decade, Clements will probably be too old to consider. There is also the potential for Skip Holtz to do well on his own.

i would be more afraid of hiring another coach based on potential, regardless of race. neither davie or willingham had proven success, but they had loads of potential. despite the fact that weis wasn't a head coach, he has proven success.

Don't agree with that. Look at the NFL, black coaches are very common now, and very successful.

Colleges would be smart to start looking at Black NFL assistants, and snatch them up.

Notre Dame has already broken everyones fall by firing Ty (the first major black coach to coach a major program) , if other colleges fired black coaches now it wouldn't be a big deal.

Well were going to have to wait longer for Wilson's decision. He's waiting until Wednesday (national signing day) to announce on ESPN. It's down to Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Florida still has a chance.

Only one school has a chance. To me, this indicates he has already decided where he is going and just wants the televisions to cover it.

IMHO this boads well for us. I believe tOSU is maxed-out on scholarships, which means he would have to grayshirt to go there. Florida got into this late and with limited fanfair. Still, we'll just have to wait. Like always, I enter into this assuming he is going elsewhere.

However, if we do we land all four remaining recruits, this class will be an outright coup.

EDIT: tOSU has more openings than I thought! They must have lost a few recruits, didn't they? Bemoll's gone, can't tell who else, but I swore they had more verbals...

First I heard of this, if thats the case he'd most likely chose ND over OSU.

Worthington is still a soft commit I believe. OSU has two DE's currently committed Ryan Williams and Worthington, both of whom are highly touted. Last year they brought in Vernon Gholston who was highly touted as well.

We only have Kuntz committed. But Kuntz may eventually develop into a Defensive Tackle, and Tuck is leaving, so Wilson could get early playing time, which may intrigue him. Wilson certainly has a better chance of being a starter at ND faster then he would at OSU.

Yeah, I edited my comment. They have 15 commits as of today. In 2004 they took 26 (1 over), but in 2003 they only took 15, and in 2002 they took 27 (2 over). They should have 83 on the team, not counting 5th year seniors. That leaves only 3 openings for sure (Clarett is-of course-gone).

Who is to say how many players they actually graduated? But they should be close to maxed-out if they keep any 5th year seniors.

Wilson will announce his final choice at 3:40 PM wednesday at the Akron Beacon Journal and will then have a press conference at his high school at 4:30. He will choose between O$U, ND, and Florida, but he calls UF a darkhorse. He still hasn't made up his mind on where he'll be going.

Rumor has it Lawrence and his mom want to go to OSU, but his Dad wants him to go ND.

Sounds like his dad is the only smart one in the family.

I don't know if that rumor is true, thats what there saying on the O$U boards. I always got the impression both his parents wanted him to go to ND, and Lawrence wanted to go to O$U.

I think he's going to choose O$U, ND did a great job coming on late, but I think the TW firing left a bad taste in the Wilson family's mouth. I think Weis could of used a few more weeks to work on Lawrence.

But who knows, O$U may be put on probation, doubt it though.....

tOSU picked up two more verbals in the last two days. I tell you, they must be very close to being maxed-out on scholarships.

I know they only graduate around 50% of them, but I think those players still tend to linger for four years taking football classes and sex ed courses.

I thought as much as well after a local WR kid announced he was going to O$U this afternoon.

Lol my friend in south bend said he was making sure he went to mass today and said his prayers i guess he really wants this guy. BTW the main reason i am posting this is to say how appropriate the $$$'s r in the O$U. Maybe the sighn at the university should read:

Ohio $tate University

Wow. That was clever. I wonder why nobody came up with that before. As for Wilson:

1.) The fate of ND (or OSU, etc.) does not rest on any one recruit.

2.) Always expect that they're not coming, and always act like you don't care if they do. Showering them with this kind of love just feeds their ego and perpetuates this damned press conference malarky.

Remember Lorenzo Booker? In a couple more years nobody else will either.
