Salaam yes...I don't think Detmer is, he's had a productive 10 year career, right?Domer95 said:How about Rashan Salaam, Chris Weinkie and Ty Detmer.....
Fair point. But then the question is, how come they haven't been able to get it done since Weinke left? I'm not saying he's a great QB at all. But I do think the fact that he was 27-28 years old with some real-life experience to go along with a decent arm made him a very good leader. And as we've seen, sometimes the "intangibles" can make up for a percieved lack of ability.irishtexan said:lyght, anyone can throw a football up and with the talent that fsu has, come down with the ball. to me this kid has no special talent that is impressive.
LOL...cool. I hate Rix, too. For a guy who had so much potential, he showed so little on gameday. I was a fan of Weinke's when he was at FSU (if for nothing else, than the amount of "Weinke" jokes my drunk friends 7 I would make during games).irishtexan said:oh sh*t. i meant to say chris rix sucks. i get these two confused all the time. now i feel stupid. i didnt mind weinke, i hate rix, with a passion.

Koy is a good player, but let's not sleep on "T-Dizzle". A 12-year pro career is nothing to laugh at.Domer95 said:Lyght, are you confusing Ty w/ Koy Detmer??? Can't remember anything Ty did in the pros, except a cup of coffee at GBay

QueensNY said:Carter, and king are good backups. but if there your staters, then your team probably stinks.
Florida QB's
Curtis Enis, was a bust. I thought peter warrick would be alot better, Coles actually turned out to be a much better pro. Funny, Bowden hung Coles out to dry, and pampered Warrick.
Ryan Leaf, man that guy was a joke.
Who was that UCLA QB who got drafted by the Bears a few years back, can't remember his name, he was a bust.
Let's be real, though...would you trade your job to be an NFL backup for 12 years? I probably would.Domer95 said:Ok, but carrying a clipboard and wearing a baseball cap doesn't really make a career now does it???
He is super duper fast, but he is a horrible runner in the pure sense. Of course, being draft by St. Louis probably did that to him.NDLyght37 said:Soward's terrible...he's not even good on John Madden Football.
I may be wrong...but if I ran a west coast offense, i'd like to have Candidate on my team, at least as a back up. He's incredibly fast, and a good reciever out of the backfield.
NDLyght37 said:I agree with everyone on that list except for Charlie Ward. It's not his fault he came out in an era that wasn't as receptive to "mobile" Quarterbacks.

Weinke is in a bind. He's good enough to start or be a competent backup, but it just hasn't worked out.

QueensNY, I believe you're talking about Cade McNown from UCLA.....
QueensNY said:Good to see another new yawker on the board.
Yep Cade was the one I was thinking of, thanks....
True, but Young had to be "broken in" in Tampa before becoming the heir-apparent to Joe Cool.bmf175 said:well actually Steve Young could have been considered a "mobile" quarter back along with Randall Cunningham. As well as a couple others.
Oh yes and Im not respmding to your quote just because you wrote it.![]()
I just didnt see it as valid
