I agree with everyone on that list except for Charlie Ward. It's not his fault he came out in an era that wasn't as receptive to "mobile" Quarterbacks.

Salaam yes...I don't think Detmer is, he's had a productive 10 year career, right?

Weinke is in a bind. He's good enough to start or be a competent backup, but it just hasn't worked out.

He did take FSU to two title games, didn't he? And the Seminoles haven't had any great QBs since. It can be argued that Weinke was one of FSU's best QBs.

Fair point. But then the question is, how come they haven't been able to get it done since Weinke left? I'm not saying he's a great QB at all. But I do think the fact that he was 27-28 years old with some real-life experience to go along with a decent arm made him a very good leader. And as we've seen, sometimes the "intangibles" can make up for a percieved lack of ability.

LOL...cool. I hate Rix, too. For a guy who had so much potential, he showed so little on gameday. I was a fan of Weinke's when he was at FSU (if for nothing else, than the amount of "Weinke" jokes my drunk friends 7 I would make during games).

What do y'all think about Shaun King? The guy was pretty good in Tampa, but has kind of fizzled out since then. Does he have a shot at getting back a starting gig...or at least being the next generation of Tony Banks?

oh geez, i forgot about shaun king. i think he will bounce around a few times and eventually work his way out of the nfl system. i also think quincy carter was a bust. he might have started for the cowboys a few seasons, but he isnt very good in my opinion, and i think hes had adequate amount of time to mature into a good quarterback.

I may be wrong...but if I ran a west coast offense, i'd like to have Candidate on my team, at least as a back up. He's incredibly fast, and a good reciever out of the backfield.

He is super duper fast, but he is a horrible runner in the pure sense. Of course, being draft by St. Louis probably did that to him.

well actually Steve Young could have been considered a "mobile" quarter back along with Randall Cunningham. As well as a couple others.

Yeah, but I think they gave up on him too early. I think Marshall Faulk might be the best "RB Coach" in the NFL. He's done wonders with Stephen Davis. I think Martz made it too much of a competition, instead of a gradual passing of the torch with Trung Candidate.

True, but Young had to be "broken in" in Tampa before becoming the heir-apparent to Joe Cool.

As for Randall, he was a phenom...but I think he was the guy that made people like Vick & McNabb possible. The first guys almost never get to be great, they are always the "barrier-breakers" who pave the way for others.
