I really against making a weaker schedule. With that in mind I would love to see the following teams added to the schedule:

Oklahoma
Miami, FL
Florida
FSU (not Ferris State)
Nebraska (figuring they improve)

If we are going to win another MNC let's do it beating the best!

miami definitely! nothing compares to those games in the late '80's (catholics vs. convicts)!

I would really like to see FSU back on the schedule that would aslso be considered catholics vs convicts.

Texas would be another good one.

Yes, Catholics vs. Convicts sounds a lot better than the weak ND Bookstore T-shirts of '93 "Catholics vs. Creminoles"....

Like many ND fans, I want BC dropped. I think we should play one school in Texas, California, and Florida. I would play USC (of course), Texas A&M, and FSU because their locations maximize the number of cities within a given travel radius (hence, the number of alumni within a feasible distance of the game).

why do you want BC dropped? although we've gotten beat too many times lately, i've always liked the idea of the ND-BC matchup.

Just thought of this - how bout if Weis got our offense up and running perfectly and then we play Texas Tech and their 4,000 yard Qbs. and maybe weis can have a same type of qb and it would be like the Louisville vs Boise State game

It is a lop-sided relationship with one side way more into it then the other. You have to realize that they would seriously trade a 10-2 season for a 1-11 record with a victory over ND. And they follow ND closer then their own school! I know BC grads that came to me with this big :censored: -eating grin every day talking about this or that ND did wrong in the recent coaching search. I absolutely hate Boston College. They are not fun to play.

I go to school with tOSU grads, several guys from Florida, a kid from Texas, etc., but BC produced the only football 'fans' I find genuinely obnoxious. And then they beat us. To me, playing BC and losing is like playing a MAC school and losing.

The question is fine and all... but who do you drop from the schedule.

1) I'd drop BYU and add FSU or Florida
2) I'd drop Washington and add Miami
3) I'd drop Pitt or BC and add Texas or Nebraska

I'd be done. That would be enough to guarantee a #1 SOS rank as we are already one of the highest.

I'd like to see ND play Southwest Texas State, or West Georgia. I think on the average year ND's schedule is hard enough. The simple fact is if ND goes 11-0 there in the championship game because on SOS there always near the top.

But playing Georgia in a rematch of 1980 would be great. It might shut all these rednecks up down here.

Would that be 1905?

Keep BC... the fact that their fans are so obnoxious makes pounding them into the turf all the more enjoyable.

this is my 1st post ever so excuse me if i screw up. it took a site like this 2 get me 2 do it, but god knows i love the irish. 2 me they stand 4 doing things the right way n this world of shortcuts and cheating. as 4 this thread i dont want 2 drop bc, just start kicking their buts 2 remind them we r nd and their not. i would love 2 c miami every year because they r everything notre dame is against . also, i love the name of this site. ive always accused my friends of being envious, now i have a name 4 it!

i disagree. that would put florida state, miami, texas, michigan, and USC on the schedule every season. i realize the strength of schedule would be #1, but even with stellar coaching and playing, what are the odds of winning all those games? we shouldn't schedule middle tennessee and louisiana-monroe, but we need to have some games that are "in the bag" before we even take the field. playing three legitimate top-ten teams a year is enough.

Yeah, that schedule would be genuinely insane. You only need to prove yourself a couple of times in a season.

1.) I would play USC, TexasA&M (or Texas), and FSU for the reasons I listed earlier;

2.) I would play all three academies for the pomp & circumstance that goes with it, and these would be my chumps. I really believe we have to have some gimmies, and I love playing the academies;

3.) I would play Michigan, Purdue, and a third team in the Big Ten;

4.) I would play three Big East shools in an effort to stabilize the conference.

A schedule including USC, FSU, Texas, and Michigan would already be toward the top of the s-o-s, and would be a fine schedule.

absolutely right. i also like playing the academies, especially army and navy. ND/army is a classic rivalry, plus they've got bobby ross on the sidelines now.

on a side note, i'm pulling for an army versus mike riley's oregon state national title game next year, so two former chargers coaches can duke it out and dan fouts can get teary-eyed and melancholy in the announcers booth.

Yes that is also a good point. All of our picks are teams that are constantly in the hunt for a national title. That would be alittle difficult to go up against that kind of competition week after week.
But I think everybody would like to see some of those teams mentioned randomly inserted throughoout a three or four year span and not all at once.
I mean whats the point of playing a team every year if they really are not considered a rival by ND(realize that everybody considers ND their own rival)

exactly. i think in recent years that the schedule makers have done a great job getting series set up with other traditional powers. in the last ten years we've played texas, ohio state, LSU, oklahoma, tennessee, nebraska and florida state, plus our typical big-time rivals michigan and USC. that's great diversity and a lot of those were great football games, especially texas in '96 and, despite the loss, nebraska in 2000.

I hate BC, so I'd be happy to drop them from the schedule...at least for a few years. But most of these suggestions to add another powerhouse program to the schedule is just ridiculous. This isn't an EA Sports video game here. We need to schedule some winnable games and not overload our schedule anymore than it already is. More solid programs, sure, but no more top ten teams. Everyone is assuming we'd win these games and get in the National Title game, but we could lose those games in an embarassing fashion. Example: Florida St 37, Irish 0, 2003.

I wasn't talking about all of them on the schedule every year, but rotating them out.

LOL, who's the psycho here.
