Heh... I'll answer it, but using the archives at und.com seems like cheating. :eek:grin:

Our "four year" winning streak started December 6th, 1888 with a win over Harvard Prep. We played only 1 game in 1889, a win over Purdue, and then we didn't play at all in 1890 or 1891. But because we didn't play, we didn't lose. We then went 1-0-1 in 1892, and the tie to Hillsdale snapped our "four year" winning streak.

No rep, please. I just thought the answer was funny.

(As an additional note, we didn't actually lose another game until our loss to Chicago on January 1st, 1894.)

that's right..the answer is somewhat tricky..but hey, it's trivia...anyone know the ansewr to the previous?

Name the former Irish QB that is married to ESPN basketball analyst Dick Vitale's daughter?
Krug I believe... but not positive. I know her name is Sherri. He mentions her every damn time he is on TV. Is that right?

Nayers... you owe me some rep for the answer. Here is the next question:

Who was the only Notre Dame player to be selected first pick in the NFL Draft during the 1900s?

#1 overall, not first round picks.

i know this. these are ND #1 overall picks.

here we go - from und.com:

Overall, the Irish have had five players (more than any other school) chosen as the first pick in the entire draft--QB Angelo Bertelli by Boston in 1944, QB Frank Dancewicz by Boston in 1946, E Leon Hart by Detroit in 1950, B Paul Hornung by Green Bay in 1957 and DT Walt Patulski by Buffalo in 1972.

Crap.

LOL... yeah, I messed up the question. It was going to be a multiple choice but I just looked up and noticed I didn't give the 5 choices. Rep for you and you're on the clock with a question.

Cool. How about....

Name the last game to end in a tie at ND stadium - the opponent and score. Hint: both teams were ranked - bonus if you know their rankings at the time.

Remember this game like it was yesterday... unless I'm off. 17-17 tie with Michigan. Don't remember the rankings.

You're right - September 12, 1992. The Irish were #3 and U-M was #6. You're up.

that was my first game in ND stadium! i was a freshman in high school and i went back with the old man. corner of the endzone behind the band. there was an INSANELY drunk michigan fan in front of me who got sick right after kickoff and literally did not see another play all game, he just had his head in his knees. good times. mirer versus grbac, and demetrius dubose (rest in peace) was suspended for the game because he drove a friend's car earlier in the week and holtz drilled him.

This was suggested by nayers, so I sat down and came up with the following: This is going to be for Notre Dame trivia, so you can ask question regarding anything related to Notre Dame: players, coaches, teams, stats, records, as long as it is related, you can ask it!

Example:

I say "Who drafted Jerome Bettis?" and someone would answer with "Los Angeles Rams."

The individual who created the question would then give repuation to the person who correctly answered, and then the person who correctly answered the question would then ask a question and repeat the cycle.

Also, please refrain from posting "I don't know" or other similar remarks. No need to post pad this thread. Got it? Good... I'll start it off with an easy one:

Who coined the famous nickname "The Four Horsemen" for the fabled Notre Dame backfield of Stuhldreher, Crowley, Miller and Layden in 1924?

I believe the person who coined the famous nickname was George Strickler.

Zora Zorich was his mother's name, in which he has started a scholarship fund for kids enrolling in the University with single parents.
