Justin (Manhattan): DJ Hord- How has the process been for you, and are you close to a decision?

DJ Hord: (1:09 PM ET ) It's been pretty hectic all the way through, not too bad, but it's hectic. I'll make my announcement at half time of the All-American game so I'm ready to go, really.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

kirk ohio: Hey DJ hord how was your visit to ND?

DJ Hord: (1:10 PM ET ) It was a pretty good visit. It was so much fun, I met a lot of players, Coach Weis was a really nice guy, I finally got to meet him face to face with my family. Overall, it was a really great experience.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jimmy (South Bend): There is talk that DJ is getting a lot of pressure to go to KSU. What schools were in your final three?

DJ Hord: (1:13 PM ET ) Kansas State, Wisconsin and Notre Dame.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jon (Denver): DJ: What would you say your best attribute is as a WR and will you be wearing the Blue and Gold next year?

DJ Hord: (1:14 PM ET ) My speed is probably my best attribute ... and no, I can't tell you where I'm going yet!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mitch-Kansas City, MO: DJ, With the past success of Rockhurst High grads (Kenyan Rasheed and Brandon Shelby)at Oklahoma why did the Sooners not make your final list?

DJ Hord: (1:15 PM ET ) I considered the Sooners in the beginning, but it kinda of fell through and I eventually lost contact with the receiving coaches so I just knocked them off the list.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mike:Chandler AZ: This question is for DJ. DJ, can you tell me your impressions of coach Weis at ND and how well you feel he will do there as coach? Thanks.

DJ Hord: (1:17 PM ET ) Well, Coach Weiss's offensive mind shines very bright and intriguing to a WR. He is an intense guy and an overall nice guy. I think he will fit right in at Notre Dame and be very successful there.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Will, Kansas City: DJ... I hope to see you flying down the field with a powercat on your helmet next fall. You're the burner we need. Good luck in the game this weekend!

DJ Hord: (1:18 PM ET ) Thanks for all the support!

From the sound of it (answering th ND questions), looks likes he's headed to KSU!
Really? I felt the opposite especially since how he dodged the last question and ran out the door.

He's doing everything he can to hold the cards to his chest so that his official announcement will really hit the hometown papers.

When I was doing a trial run on one of the paysites I couldn't help but think his quotes sounded like he and Sharpley were already tight and looking forward to playing together. I would be somewhat disappointed if he went elsewhere, because a few weeks ago he sounded like he was ours.

Fact remains: We find out in about three days.

Yeah, if we haven't learned anything by now, it's that it's best to wait for a solid commitment. This is probably what gives coaches grey hairs...knowing that their job likely depends on the word of 17-18 year old guys. After this process, Weis deserves a nice quiet weekend somewhere...as long as it isn't in Jacksonville.

Yeah it actually sounded like the opposite to me too. He said Weis will be very successful and he said Weis's offensive mind is very attractive to a WR. It sounds like he is leaning towards ND.

KSU fans seem to think he's a lock because of the connection with Hord's high school, and KSU.

It's between ND and KSU, Wisconsin doesn't have a shot. Nobody knows but Hord, we just have to be patient.

On the other hand, he is an urban kid at a Catholic highschool. And he is from Missouri.

I just didn't like the way he said, Weis would be successful. It just sounded like he was distancing himself......

I'd be surprised if any 18 year old's communication/pr skills are that astute. i'd take most of what these kids say at face value. i suspect he'll wind up with the Irish.

I tend to agree with you I don't think they read into what they say half as much as we do.The only thing that worries me is he has some good friends that go to K-state.I think anyone would want to go somewhere, where there is an already a percieved comfort level. :headbang:

I really don't understand the KState connection. He lives in Missouri. He goes to school in Missouri. He is from an urban area of Missouri and attends a Catholic highschool. Plus, Missouri has had a better football team for that last few years anyway, even without the famously easy highschool schedule that 'turned' KSU around.

I've been to KState, too. It is out in the middle of NOWHERE. I wouldn't go there no matter how good the team is. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I feel that he was trying to hide from giving facial expressions (blushing, flushing, smiling, etc.) that might give his commitment to KSU away....btw i thought that this kids highschool was in Kansas City Mossuri - if so thats right on the border of Kansas and well i think we wont get him if that is true

Elite WR Nears a Decision
By Sean Kelly Kansas State Publisher/Admin
Date: Jan 13, 2005

One of the top wide receiver recruits in the nation and left on the board for Kansas State, Wide Receiver prospect D.J. Hord, from Rockhurst High School in Kansas City, Missouri says he is ready to announce his decision.

On a windy day in San Antonio, we caught up with on the best wide receiver recruits in the country in West Squad’s D.J. Hord as he went through one of the final practices leading up to Saturday’s U.S. Army All-Star game. The feeling from San Antonio is that DJ is set to announce his decision this Saturday and in talking with Hord, he says he knows where he will announce and is set to make that decision public on Saturday.

“Yea, I am ready to make my choice. I am not sure when it will happen but I am going to make it live this Saturday during the game.”

In an All-Star game, there are no free plays and DJ lined up at WR throughout the morning, taking passes from two of the best quarterbacks in the county in Texas commit Ryan Perrilloux and USC commit Mark Sanchez.

Usually in press coverage, DJ got good separation throughout the day, going up against Reggie Smith and Kevin Thomas.

But what everyone really wants to know is: Are the Cats still in the hunt for his signature?

“Yes, Kansas State is there. I think I could fit into the offense well there. Their Coaches are great and I could go there and play and provide them with a deep threat. I talk with Coach Peterson a lot and he tells me that I can come in and learn the system and have a shot to play,” said Hord.

Hord who is listed at 6-foot-one and 190 pounds is every bit as tall and big. The Kansas City Rockhurst prep used his height on several occasions in the gusty wind to out muscle the West DB’s off the ball.

Used on the onsides kick team (hands team), Hord made one play early on where he illustrated the skill set that has made him one of the top prospects in the nation. Using a double move on Kevin Thomas, Sanchez hit a streaking Hord as the safety cheated over and using his body to elevate and shield the ball as he took in mid-air.

As I sat chatting with DJ after the practice, we talked a bit about the type of offense the Cats employ and if he felt he could see playing time early. Hord was very forthcoming in that he feels he will be able to step in and make an impact early on wherever he chooses.

As for the suspense, Hord had this to say to the Wildcat Fans:

“Just tell them to tune in and watch …wait and see what happens, but K-State is in it- you never know,” said Hord with a big grin

i have no idea why he would choose k-state. any coach is going to tell a young 18 year old kid he will fit well into the offense and has a shot to play, i wish this kid would see the other things in college, like quality of education.

Well, combine that article with the SportsNation transcript and I feel he is going to K-State. While at first I thought he was googling at ND, I re-read it and it is like he is wishing ND luck.

Man, tough break. I'll pray to TD Jesus tonight just in case.

That is from a KSU site. He may still be Irish.

Going nuts here, We need this kid big time, especially if nelson leaves. Hord has stated in the past how ND offers a great education. ND is still fresh in his mind , his visit was last Saturday, Weis had the last crack at him.

thats true, but when a kid is that young he usually doesnt think things through. i.e. all his friends at k-state are probably persuading him to go there. and peer pressure when you are that young is incredible. i hope he has a good enough head to do what is best for him and not something that he may regret.
