Now this post is not about the race issue are the fact that Ty Willingham was fired and deserved to be fired. Im through with that arguement, Anti-Willingham people have voiced their opinion on the situation and their premises for their conclusion clearly are better than the Pro-Willingham people....Enough said
BUT......
if you think Ty Losingham is a black JoePa...YOU ARE ON CRACK!!!!!!!!!!
Now I really know you are off your rocker. Ty Willingham is no where near the level JoePa was at during the same number of years as a Head Coach.
Ty Willingham "appears" to be a good person. But that is all.

Now if you said Ty W is a black Joe Pa on crack... I would believe that. :headbang:

My man...do you understand the concept of the context of a sentence?
Check this out again: "I think TyWillie is an "old-school" coach. He's kind of like the African-American version of JoePa in the sense of how he runs his program on & off the field."

First of all, Paterno himself has all but declared Willingham a coach in his mold. Ty is an "old-school" type of coach. I never said Willingham was on the level of Paterno in terms of coaching ability...Paterno is/was on a level that only a few people have ever been on. But in terms of how he behaves, and his character, and how he runs his program, they are very similar. He's a great man, and a very solid coach. Again, I think he deserved one more year...but I think both ND & UW are better off right now.

As for the Anti-Willingham people vs. Pro-Willingham people, I have yet to see a concrete, conclusive reason that he shouldn't have been given one more season to finish with his recruiting class. Again, I'm happy with C-Dub...but it's not as "black and white" (pun intended) is you would make it out to be.

Fair enough. But to be completely on the level, the Pro-Willingham people have yet to give one concrete, conclusive reason that he SHOULD have been given one more season to finsih w/ his recruiting class. Kinda goes both ways there. And Willingham may be as much of a class "old-school" guy as Joe Pa is, but to be honest, had Joe Pa faired as well as Willingham on the field at the begining of his career, he'd of been fired by PennState too at some point. Sad but true, all comes down to wins & losses.

That's exactly my point Aerosmith...there is no conclusive answer on this situation. There are just a lot of opinions...and the thing is there are just as many right opinions on one side as there are on the other side It's like the old saying, "there's your side of the story, my side of the story...and the truth is somewhere in the middle". And I think that's clearly the case here.

And about the JoePa thing...I totally agree that in this day & age it all comes down to wins & losses. But the only reason I made the comparrison was because Paterno himself alluded to it at a press conference the week after TyWillie was terminated.

Oh & that's fine. I mean, granted I'd disagree that there weren't better reasons to fire him than keep him, but that dead horse has been beaten enough. Off the field though I'm sure they are very similar. My only point is, to paraphrase Kevin White, Joe Pa gets it done on Saturdays too, not just Sunday-Friday. Well, at least, Job Pa got it done on Saturdays enough in the past to allow him to run the program into the ground as long as he wants now until he either retires or just drops dead from still coaching at his age....

Exactly Aero but one point that wasnt brought up here is that ND fans seem to like the coaches more that yell at the refs, etc and that is one reason that i think there was a firety.com etc
