OT: Did anyone else see what Shaun Alexander said?

"Are you kidding me? You know the play," said Alexander, who is in the final year of his contract. "We all know what it was. Stabbed in the back."

Alexander is the NFC rushing champion, joining Curt Warner and Chris Warren as the only to win conference rushing titles. He didn't become the first player in Seahawks history to win the NFL rushing title, but the Seahawks did win the NFC West title and will host the Rams in the opening round of the playoffs on Saturday.

"We were going to win, anyway," Alexander said. "We were on the freakin' goal line, and I got stabbed in the back.

"That's it."

He is a free agent this offseason. Personally I think he broke this out to have a reason to leave and not feel guilty.

oh, I know. But I doubt it matters, Seattle would be very foolish not to re-sign him. At the very least they'll probly "franchise" him, so I doubt he's going anywhere this year.

A couple of weeks ago, Peyton Manning took the field against Baltimore just 2 touchdown passes short of tying Dan Marino's record. He threw for one in the 3rd quarter, bringing him one short of the record, but the game stayed close, a 10-3 Colts lead.

Later on in the game, the Colts had a first-and-goal at the 3, and everyone in Indianapolis was on their feet, waiting for Manning to tie the record. Instead, he lined up behind center, sized up the opposing defense, and audibled. Everyone and their grandmother was expecting a pass, so Manning called the play that was least expected: a handoff to Edgerrin James. It worked. Touchdown Colts, 17-3, and it took the wind out of the Ravens' sails. It was the perfect play call, exactly what was needed to put the game away...

...and amazingly, some Colts fans in the stands actually boo'd.

In the closing moments of the game, the Colts had yet another first-and-goal with a 20-10 lead. Peyton could've thrown a couple of passes and tried to tie the record, but there was more than enough time for the Ravens to pick him off, return it for a touchdown, then recover an onside kick for the tying field goal. So, once again, Peyton did the best thing for his team: he knelt twice and ran the clock down to 0:00. Colts win...

...and the Colts fans boo'd even louder, because Peyton WASN'T selfish, because he actually set aside a self-centered quest for the record books and called the play that was most likely to help the entire team win.

THAT is what makes a player truly great: not breaking some arbitrary record, but doing anything... ANY- :censored: -THING to lead their team to victory. For all Peyton knew, he could've come out the next Sunday and broken his leg on the first play of the game, ending his career and any chance at setting the record. He didn't care. The team came first.

Shaun Alexander? Sit down and shut the :censored: up.

That is all.

They talked about this on ESPN Radio and they believe Walter Jones will get the franchise tag because it is harder to find a dominant LT. They have Jones, Alexander and Hasselback as free agents.

They're losing someone.

Nope...Alabama.

He's usually a good guy (he's spoken at FCA camps & stuff like that).

I think he got mad because Holmgren came out and made it a big deal before the game. Holmgren was like, "We're keeping tabs on what Curtis Martin did, and we'll be keeping track of Shaun's yards to get him the title".

So if your coach comes out and basically tells you that after winning, the main goal is to get you the rushing crown...and then he gives the ball to Hasselbeck, I think you'd be a lil' ticked off.

But I do agree that SA is trying to gain some leverage in free-agent talks through this.

Hehe, its so fricken hard to find a LT. Don't get me wrong, I love having a ND Alum on the Giant's o-line, but I think Luke just hasn't made the transition to LT. He's one of those guys who can really only play to his potential on one side of the line and not the other.

He's got potential as long as he can stay away from that damn side-arm release. lol. Texans aren't bad, they're my favorite football team from Texas.

Carr's a decent QB, tough kid too. But I'm a Falcons fan, and my QB's better than yours. :nanana1:
There's only about 3 QB's in the League I'd take over Mike.

Lol, Vick's good, but I'll still take my traditional drop-back pocket thrower in Manning. That whole running-QB thing never seems to win championships in the pros to me.

Oh yeah, I'd take Peyton 1st, McNabb 2nd, and Favre 3rd...even if he is 50 years old.

As for running QB's, don't forget that Steve Young was a "running QB". he had a great arm, but when he came into the League, he was just like Vick...only slower. :)

Lol, well yeah, but actually I meant Eli Manning (<-- Giants fan). But that's the rest of my list too. McNabb is the one exception, he runs around a lot but he can definately throw it too.

I wish there was a Pro team who ran the option
You'd have to have 8-10 QBs on your roster as they'd be peeling them off the field one by one.

When I used to play Madden Football I had a roster full of ND QBs...none started, but Mirer & Ronnie P could hold a good clipboard. ;)

And I always had a thing for option QBs. I think I went through Crouch, Dantzler, & Seneca Wallace at one point before going with Shaun King.

Eli's starting to look a lot better, I think he'll be good...but they still went to him too soon.

Coughlin wasted an MVP-like season from Tiki Barber.

"eh" on both points. I think they went to him too early only b/c the NYC sports media around here was dumb enough to think they could still make the playoffs at 5-4 after losing 3 of their last 4 games and looking horrible in the process. Warner wouldn't have gotten them to the playoffs though, at most he may have won one of the games Eli lost. They'd still have lost to the Eagles, Falcons, & Steelers at least, and I doubt they'd of beaten the 'Skins or the Bengals either. So I don't know mind that he got the extra experience.

And as far as Coughlin goes, I don't think you can really put all the blame on him. I mean, if you look that the Giant's Injured Reserved list this year you'd think you were looking at the active roster of a playoff contender. They had sooo many injuries this year, they had to have an offensive lineman come in to play on their D-Line on a couple of short yardage plays last night b/c they're so thin on the defensive line. They're 3 deep at strong safety, 2 deep at both outside linbacker spots, 2 deep at free safety, I don't think there's a number for how deep they are at defensive tackle and defensive end, they're w/o 2 of their top 3 recievers, Shockey finished the season on the bench, and their offensive line was banged up on top of all of it w/ Chris Snee finishing the year on the bench, and every other player except David Diehl missing some time at some point in the year.
