I have always felt Ryan Grant wasnt as good as everyone is making him out to be. His biggest games were against mediocre teams, i.e. navy, and he didnt do squat when a real team was on the other side of the ball. He does just run a straight line, and the first defender that even touches him, even with one arm, usually brings him down. He is very easy to tackle. I dont know if he has plans for the nfl, but i wouldnt think pro scouts would want a guy in their backfield that was really easy to bring down, and didnt have real good vision on the field. Can anyone remember a spectacular run where Grant actually fought off tacklers, maybe put a great juke on someone, and made a long run. I dont. All his runs are straight off the playbook, if the arrow shows you going straight, he runs straight and looks only in that direction, not for cutting left or right. Darius Walker might be from a small school, but he has shown immense ability to be a great tailback. And as far as the screen play goes, im tired of that one too, escpecially the tunnel screen to the wideouts. The first time the Irish used that play it worked on Purdue, and they used it like 150 times in every game after that. Soon all the teams they faced were snuffing it out easily. But they still insisted on using it. It just further showed something wasnt clicking in the offensive coordinators head.
